Hi there you all!

This is my first try with VXA, it is just a test to see if the modifications I did to the Tilesets of the RTP works fine, so far so good, still not happy, but I think I will improve with time, and if you have some recomendations I´m glad to read you.

I also wanted to test small events and through the making of this demo inspiration came to me and I have some more ideas that I wish ti implement later. Making two more maps and a house with a basement are one of thos ideas and I will be editing some more Tilesets for this, just rearranging and colouring.

I want to add an small alchemy system or witchcraft system, let´s go with the later, sounds better when the one performing it is a Witch, that will transform some items like flowers, mushrooms and other stuff like that into potions, ethers and other consumable items. I have been reading a lot of tutorials and I think I have it figured out already, it will take some time becouse of my work, not to much time to play around.

I also want to play with timers [spoilers] so the resources items the player gather could grow again, you know wildflowers and mushrooms grow in the nature after sometime, I want to do that.

After getting the catch to that timer I want to implement some event battles, apart of random encounters that will give the player more valuables resources items to use in the Witchcraft System.

Add some other small Quests to get key items or skills.

And that´s all folks for now, any comment is welcome, and please help me improve my skills.

Edits:

Uploaded the new Demo wich includes the new 2nd Map and some other stuff.

Thanks to Riku for pointing out some errors in the last Demo, already fixed

Update:

Added a Timer so a Red Flower will grow after 1 minute well, will try to grow, is random, is located just up after crossing the first bridge, I played here a little with variables and switches, loops and conditional branches. Also in the stump before you cross the first bridge when you step in front of it, you have a chance one to five to encounter a wasp and battle, if you win (is really easy) you will get one of three items, then after a minute you will have the opportunity to battle those little wasps again. If you haven´t finished the Quest of the Red Flowers you wont be allowed to transport to the other map, it won´t say anything just wont work, now that I remember, GO EAST, I forgot to put some directions after Karen joins you.

Finished the 3rd Map, made the items for the Red and Yellow Flowers and also the Mushrooms, fixed some bugs, but still can´t figure out what´s wrong with the random number in the Yellow Flower Event.

Added a personalized title, I´m learning how to change the Main Menu.

New Updates.

To Do:

Finish the house map and the basement map. (For the house and basement I have to do some tileset edits so it will take some time).

Change some of the dialogs, add some more humor and such.

That´s all for now, after I finish these goals I will update the To Do list.

Neat concept you have there. I'm Pretty that the Witchcraft system can be implemented, but this seems like a good idea.

Can't wait to see more.

Downloaded, played, loved, and enjoyed this demo.

I really think it'll be great and what I love, although not everyone will get this reference, how the main Hero, which I called Zephyr, reminds me of Chrom!

@Shadowfrost: Thanks a lot, got the joke there, hehehehe, I already implemented some new stuff, will be updating the Demo right now and in the first post will write the new things and the other stuff that I will try later.

@I-Riku: Thanks for playing and the comment, really I didn´t have time to make the characters in the CC, and selected the one I would like it best for a starter hero, not my favorite, but still looks awesome, and I will get some new comic relief talks in there, I´m writing the dialos using a very ancient technique since my tablet died recently, the Mighty Pen and Paper! Seriously they are amazing tools.

I hope this goes well and I shall most likely play every demo and then the full game and keep giving you the best comments I can. Besides that...for a starting Demo...although short...it gives the player a feeling of "What's going to happen next?" and it keeps us in suspense...which almost everyone loves.

I liked the second map...although I do have one thing to add. Maybe instead of fire the Witch starts off with Lightning? In most RPGs the Witch/Mage/Spellcaster almost always starts with fire...You can keep it if you wish. I just thought I'd mention it.

Hahaha ok, will be playing right now then, yeah I haven´t edited anything about the characters yet, I´m focusing right now on the mapping and events and stuff, this are not the characters I will be using at the end also I wont use those classes or items or any other stuff besides mapping and events, I will try to create tonight at least the class for the principal character and the witch and I was thinking in going a little more basic than lighting this witch live in the forest so fire or lighting I don´t think is a good mix with so much trees around, she will have some ¨nature powers¨ or something, using the plants and poison and such, [spoiler Alert] her mentor is introduced later, and with some revealing news! Well I think I over hyped that, won´t be ready until next week or so...

Quick edit here.

I was playing the demo and after I gave her the flowers she looked at me and nothing happened. I think something slightly broke DX.

Which is alright...I transferred over my save-data and fixed that issue.

New Updates!

I finally finished the 2 maps left and 1 map for the cutscene, I did an small tileset edit for the interiors, but it seems it still needs a little work.

Added an event in every stump were you search for something and you have 1 to 5 possibilities to fight some wasps and win an extra Red Flower, or Yellow Flower or a Mushroom. This items will appear in the inventory but are not usable, for now.

Changed the dialogs with the Karen, and I´m working in a new Intro, I´m learning how to do some cutscenes now.

A new character (not playable) is introduced, Karen´s mentor, is still nameless, she will explain a few things and will try to recover the player´s memory and by doing so triggering a memory thus introducing my first cutscene.

The cutscene was a new for me and I tried a lot of things and finally understood lots of options in the Events Page that I didn´t knew how they worked, was fun to make and I want to make some new ones.

A new small quest that will bring back memories to every rpg player.

In the basement you can rest a little in the bed.

Then you will get to learn how to do the Potions, Antidotes and Ethers by using the cualdron.

To make the Items you will need to have some things, first the materials, Red Flowers for Potions, Yellow Flowers for Antidotes and Mushrooms for Ethers and certain amount of MP to make the item.

That´s all for all, I will work this week in doing a new Intro cutscene, redo some dialogs, and make at least 2 new maps and a new quest.

I´m learning how to do a Quest List to follow up what things you have pending.

Also I added some events that will control the tintscreen and the music to play in everymap.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
