That is, until a field trip goes south and the six friends find themselves separated on a seemingly underground maze of an abandoned building, one that is constantly changing by itself and is filled with mysterious and dangerous creatures out for blood. Not all is what it seems, however, as each must struggle to find their way back to each other, and most importantly, find the way out of that death trap.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]As a horror fan, I've always dreamed of making a horror game. And since I've always found rpg horror games fascinating, I decided to make my own! This is pretty much my first actual project ever and I'm learning the ropes as I go along. But, good news, I'm really serious about this, as in, I decided to actually make my own art and tilesets and whatnot. Which also mean it's taking one helluva long time to make everything, but since I'm pretty motivated I'm doing it as fast as I can :) (Also they may not turn out so pretty, I feel like I should warn you.)[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]With Fractured I decided to do my own spin on the whole 'trapped in a haunted mansion' thing, with what I think is a different twist in the middle and a lot of non-linearity going on as you switch between characters during the course of the story and go piecing the puzzle together. I plan to have at least two completely different endings (good and bad?), and I've got a lot of the story planned out but oh god the graphics they are taking so much time o:[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]Anyway, I'm hoping to create an atmosphere of the creepy, oh god why, kind, instead of jumpscares 90% all the time. And since this is my first project, there's a lot more focus on the story than gameplay (because I'm still learning how things work). [/SIZE][SIZE=10.5pt][/SIZE]

For your first stab at a game this is looking pretty good so far!  I already want to know what happens when you try to go for that key...

Keep at it, making everything from scratch is a huge endeavor, but even if it isnt 100% gorgeous every single time, people respect the effort behind it so much more then just using the same resources as everyone else :3

Have you played/heard of Corpse Party?

It's a pretty good horror game, and also based on the RPG Maker engine, with a similar premise of several characters trying to solve a mystery in a haunted house setting.

Looks like you have a good start at the moment. The music I wouldn't worry so much about, since its probably the most difficult to change, and the RTP is available for use whether or not you go commercial with it. DLC packs might help, if you can find the right ones. I like the art - clean-cut feels a bit odd for a horror game, but the pictures look good so far :3

Thank you both! I'm hoping to get a demo done sometime this week so I can get some solid feedback on the maps and gameplay and such :>

And yes, I've seen Corpse Party (both anime and game!) and it's actually one of my main inspirations for this one (but I'm hoping to take the story in a completely different direction so it won't just be a Corpse Party clone :>). Silent Hill is my other inspiration, there's this one line in one of the games that was the base inspiration for Fractured but I'm not telling which one it is hehe

I should have figured, given its proliferation since it came out XD

Must say that I'm always pleased to see someone going with slow tension-building over jump-scares and easy frights. It takes more effort but the results, when done right, are always superior :3

The only bit of cynicism I can give is that I expect things to get bloody once things get rolling >:3

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
