Just wondering to determine how to prioritize this.

What do you guys think of a game were you craft monsters to fight?

I was thinking that during the players travels, they collect monster parts after defeating a monster. with these, they can combine to create different monsters

thinking that maybe also, you could get different starting attacks depending on the quality of the piece? Although, if i implemented that, I'd have to let the player know exactly what they would get somehow. So, little to no RGN in that department

I have other ideas, just don't want to say them right now, because I'm digressing

Sounds creative, but there's a part I need to understand-you collect monster parts to craft a monster and fight it, for the sake of collecting a certain item only the crafted monster would  give you? If so, then it's a nice idea, but the item would have to be completely worth the trouble of collecting different parts and fighting a monster for it, and it would also have to be only available through this way. Otherwise, I doubt many players would go through the trouble, unless it's for a challenge.

I think he means that he fights monsters to gather construction materials for a custom pet. :)

I'm a bit confused now, but this line is what made understand what I did. Sorry if you meant otherwise. XD

Sounds good for sci-fi, techy, robot monsters, but sounds kind of creepy if the monsters are like animals.

sense this was loosley inspired by the first sci-fi novel, id say maybe i should work with the creepiness of it, and give it a somewhat creept atmosphere.Like a horror game without the horror, ir something

Oh! The gameplay mechanics could be similar to Front Mission! In that game you have mechs that are completely customizable, and depending on their parts will depend on their performance.

Let's look at it in a Creature Creation sense.

You have three types of legs, Bird Legs, Spider Legs or Bipedal Legs for your creature. The bird legs would give more speed, spider legs perhaps would allow vertical movement, while bipedal legs give the most HP for that part.

Then you got to choose their main body, arms(natural weapons), and yea... it could work out well...

Um... spider legs woukd give the most hp, sense they could transfer the most shock from the artack to the ground. Bipedal legs would givr the least stats. And bird legs would make movment awkward, thus a decrease in speed

Edit: i think that was a little rude of me. Whats your reasoning?

I've heard that asian fans of Nechronica: The Long Long Sequel sometimes use RM to make games that tell the tale of their roleplay sessions to the world. As a fan of that I'm very interested in your idea. In Nechronica all characters are dead and frequently loose body parts as a consequence of gameplay actions you replenish your body parts by looting them from the bodies of your enemies.

Of course your idea is quite different but still involves that fleshcrafting aspect that I like. It's good for a horror environment too. Then there's always the mecha options. Players using machines to fight and upgrading/repairing them from whatever salvage they find is always a fun time. It makes me really wish that old rumoured Junk Force game actually came out.

I think your overall setting and theme will determine what people will like or dislike your game.

I love the concept.  But don't think it will be easy to pull off.

thank you. I now know how to prioritize it. I have to wait until iv'e produced some qualities games, and saved up some moneyThat is, unless i get good enough in that time to do it myself

Venka's crafting script by the way, is capable of this task

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
