Hi everyone! It's been a while since my last post. Besides chatting about game development generally, I like to help game makers write better stories. (I also have this old thread of text resources https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/failivrins-freesources.78679/#post-757884). Recently I've been working as an English professor, and I'm excited to announce my new writing workshop on Udemy: Become a Writer in 31 Days.

Do you dream of becoming a writer?

Become A Writer in 31 Days is designed to transform your dream into reality by transforming you as a person. Here, you'll not only develop the technical skills of writing, you'll develop 16 personal and social skills that make writers successful.

Through 31 daily projects, you'll practice the habits of over 100 famous writers. You'll make writing, reading, research and editing part of your daily routine. As you improve yourself, you'll expand your social and professional networks--and you'll have a lot of fun on the way. Your creative and unique daily projects will include job shadowing, cooking, acting, drawing, reading aloud, brainstorming, writing poetry, joining a book club, journaling, meditating, and more!

Best of all, with the skills and habits you develop here you can write in any genre and any language. That's because the qualities that make a good writer--and the qualities that make a good story--are universal.

All lectures are downloadable. Each lecture includes a short article and clear instructions for a daily project. No submissions necessary: Your work is for you and for the people you share it with! Although you are free to study at your own pace, you are encouraged to complete the course in 31 days in order to develop writing habits.

I originally hosted this workshop for students of Thaksin University and Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University. Now I am pleased to bring it to you here on Udemy.

Join me, Ajarn Sterling, and I promise you will become a writer in 31 days.

And now I'd like to offer the amazing members of this community a chance to join my workshop for FREE! Please click this link to join.

If the link does not work, please message me or comment below, and I will provide another coupon. (According to Udemy's policy, only a certain number of people can use a coupon before I have to generate another).

Good luck on your writing journey!

Seems interesting! Mind if I share the link with my wife?

@Trihan if your wife supports you as a game maker, I guess I can consider her an honorary member of the community, haha. Sure, you can share it.

She's doing the art for my game, so I'd say she's part of it. :)

Sounds interesting, but the audio is so stiff and mechanical - not natural at all. I'm not sure I could listen to that for long. Why don't you just record yourself speaking naturally?

@Shaz That's partly because I don't have a good microphone/recording space, so I have to speak very slowly and clearly or it generates a lot of noise. But I've found this is also helpful for teaching non-native English speakers. What we consider normal English tends to be fast and slurred and full of idioms or asides that are hard to follow. I appreciate your comment though. If you're interested in the workshop but don't enjoy the videos, you can try just downloading the articles, which cover the same themes and provide project instructions.

THE GAME AWARDS AHHHHHH!!!!!
I kept saying I suck at writing stories. But I can't believe I wrote one these days. Feels good now that the winged blonde girl I often share has an actual lore and plot going.
Huge breakthrough! I finally fixed the dimensions on the WEBM used in the cinematic that ends the demo and introductory segment in MC:RIS, around the one-minute mark:

(There's some audio desync because the capture is an MP4.)
Kudos to everyone making game jam games, because this month has been hell for my development time. I have made a cutscene, 2 sprites, and 1 tile.

I guess I've made conceptual progress in hammering out combat roles and having fixes to be implemented (though I haven't done that yet)
