Some new free items for this weekend:

5/11/13 - Tiles - Angel Statues, Stairs

Today is the first release of free tiles meant to compliment the High Fantasy Resource bundles. Included are 3 tile sheets, consisting of a variety of angel statues and stairs that match several of the tiles from the High Fantasy Resource Bundle II.



The following resources are included:

  • 2 512x512 Tile sheets with Angel statues (4 unique, 4 mirrored, 4 smaller versions of each, and miscellaneous damaged versions)
  • 1 512x512 Tile sheet with front and side-view stairs that match tiles in the High Fantasy Resource Bundle II set.
  • 850x900 Main Image (seen to the left)
  • 500x580 Cutscene Image
  • 640x480 Cutscene Image

Once again, you have created something marvelous. Although, I do have one problem with these tiles. Don't worry about it though, it's a problem I have with ALL statues, especially angel statues. I'm a Whovian, so any statue I see I automatically assume it's a weeping angel... don't blink.

I would need a black hooded and cloaked man riding black horse. You can't see the face of that man inside that hood. Similar (in the style of high fantasy resource pack) to that example in the attachment.

That would be great. I've tried it myself but the result wasn't satisfying. :(

What side-view system would you use for the battlesheets? I'm completely clueless about side-view systems. ;_;

I like to use Battle Engine Symphony. You can grab it here.

To use the animated side-view battlers, you will need to also pick up the Holder's Animated Battler add-on. You can also use Victor's animated battler script, too, which you can find in the forums.

And secondly, I wanted to share a bit of an update regarding the Mythos resources under development.

For the most part, I have all of the characters and monsters finished. Although there are not as large a quantity of these as in the larger Fantasy bundles, each character and monster has a better variety of resources available, including portraits, busts, animated battlers, running animations, isometric directions, and more. In total there are over 150 sprite sheets currently. 

 

As it is shaping up, there are also far more tiles than I had originally planned on. I was originally thinking that there might be maybe 4 or so tile sheets. I am up to 10 right now, and still have more to make. All said and done, it will probably be around 15 or so tilesets. I have only made 10 battleback/parallax images, and unsure if I will make more. Although I personally enjoy them, they typically seem to be among the least used resources so I would rather shift more focus into the tiles than the backgrounds if that is what people are more interested in.

 

So far though, I am very happy with the resources that are made. Drawing from my experience and past mistakes with previous bundles (of which I have learned a considerable amount with each new release), these are some of the best-looking tiles yet I think, and the animated battlers are just really awesome.

Very good to hear that you're more passionate with every product you release. 

About the tilesets: will you have one that contains an animated water/lava one, the ones you could use do make a waterfall looking animation?

Sir, can you make a stone dragon and a fire dragon (a dragon whose body is flames)? I really liked the frost wyrm and wanna see more of those.. :)

I don't think they'd look that great on smaller sizes... after all I think they were made to be used together with the fantasy pack resource bundles... XD...

though I'd like to see them in smaller resolutions too (as I use the normal VX Ace and custom resources that are fit on the default VX Ace graphic sizes)...

If you like them smaller, then load it into a graphic programm like Photoshop or GIMP (free) and resize it yourself. It's pretty easy.

Pretty much what Cleo said. You can very easily resize any of this to be smaller. It is much ,much harder to resize something and make it larger without it becoming blurry or strange looking, so I prefer to work in bigger resources (plus I don't like squinting at the screen to see my characters because they are so small). At any rate, I don't really plan on making these smaller than they already are. But you are free to do so. If you don't have a graphics-editing program, then I would recommend downloading GIMP since it is free and pretty much does everything Photoshop does. You can very easily edit these resources to your desired specifications with GIMP.

Hey PV, I hate to ask you this, but would you be okay with another request? So far, the world that I have planned out for a game is pretty much completed already due to your genius works, but I am still missing a single sentient race that is really the only thing holding me back. Dragon Kin. Human Lizards, whatever you want to call them. Argonians if you are a Elder Scrolls junkie. Really, I wouldn't be too picky with a style on what they look like, as long as they represent dragons/lizards. However, I found some references.

That image is the basic idea of what I mean. That character is very dragon-like, while still keeping the humanoid shape in general. The race I had in mind are a peaceful race, but are deadly in combat. However, they are rather bulky which restricts their movement somewhat. The sketch above would represent the masculine side of the race, mainly a trait found in the males of course, while the sketch below would be the more feminine side.


With the feminine side, we have less muscles and less bulk, along with taking away some features like fins. Essentially, the masculine Dragon Kin are bulky and muscular, made for heavy combat and protecting themselves and others. While the feminine Dragon Kin are more streamlined and slim, made to be able to retreat quickly if trouble arises and/or maintain a low profile. 


I am not sure how doable something like this is as it would kind of need two different kinds of the same species, but if you did something like this, I could recolor it all day to make others. If you did a basic color over one of them, I could edit them around quite a bit. And like I said, you would have creative control over the character, those images are just to better explain what I mean.

In regards to the requests: both tree folk (and a variety of nature-themed creatures), dragon-kin, elemental dragons, and much more are actually all going to be included in the next pack of resources I am working on, which is going to be an all-monster pack. This is why I have not made them as freebies at this time. 

In the pack, every monster will have 4 and 8 direction sprite sheets, down poses, front-view, side-view battlers, animated side-view battler sheets, etc. I am aiming to have somewhere around 40 or so brand new monsters (I don't have an exact figure yet. I rarely do until I am pretty much done with a pack :)

However, there is also going to be an additional Legacy add-on. There will be two parts to this: High Fantasy I and The Deep Legacy, and High Fantasy II Legacy. There will be animated battlers for almost all of the monsters that were included in the High Fantasy II bundle (already have a bunch of these made). And there will be animated battlers, remastered sprites, the inclusion of 8 direction sprites and downs for most of the monsters included in the High Fantasy I and The Deep packs. 

The reason for this is that I want animated battlers for all of my packs here on out, but lacked the necessary experience and tools prior to the more recent packs, so this way I can catch up the older packs with new resources. Plus, the High Fantasy I pack's monsters did not have 8 direction sprites or downs, and now they will.
