So theres this problem im having where my character is in the center of commands or whatever its called. Then Wise Old Cliche Guide talks about making my character invisible. He does but now my character is stuck invisible! I can't see where im going and i keep getting into random fights trying to find me way around. So frustrating!

Really? :|

This seems to me like a random occurence.

I never experienced such an issue, neither someone else.

Can you please do the following?

1] Save to a brand new slot then quit and exit RPG Maker. Reload the game and load your game.

2] If it won't work, please try loading a previous saved game. Reaching this part will not repeat the issue.

3] If you have no save game, just keep clicking on tutorials to make them flow fast. Reach near that tutorial, DO A SAVE, then try what I suggested on step 2.

If neither of them worked, I might have to take a look at this.

It seems to me like a random occurence though, frustrating indeed.

Please try these steps and inform me about any results.

Edit:

Also sent you a private message to establish a private conversation with you.

In case you need:

1] ANY help on the game you ask directly using the PM

2] More info on a topic the game demonstrates, please make a new thread so EVERYONE can help you out, and use PM to inform me about the thread, so I can come in the conversation too. ;)

By the way, welcome to the forum. It seems you are a brand new member. ;)

People here (and when I say people I mean  admins and moderators most of the admins and moderators) are really kind and have common sense.

I strongly recommend you to use the introduction thread. ;)

Also you can ask a moderator to give you a link  to the Forum rules or ask anything on forum use

(I read about your inexperience on this, I was like that 6 months ago and I am still consider myself a forum noob).

I  like this forum.

As for the members, there are fantastic people here. You met some already. :)

In a best positive manner, this was your VERY first BUG report.  XD

Still not a bug that can be repeated easily.

I assume someone was clicking Z rapidly and maybe an event command did not worked properly. Or <insert random reason here>.

The thing is I played it to that point, then saved it, gave the save, case closed. :p

*trying the very first bug reason that comes to mind*

Huh... a bedbug got caught in that sector of the hard drive while it was accessed?

:D

(Sorry!  Inside joke!  My block is ridden by little pests and one of the two types Dread and I have as pet peeve must had got sucked in the fire alarm circuitry at Valentine day and must had brought the firemen 3 times in a row by humid minus 15 or minus 20 here with restarting twice when the repairmen were at it.  You know where the computer bug expression comes from do you, all?  One that got stocked between the lamps of an old Cray or something?  Computer bigger than many bedrooms?  Took long before catching it!  XD)

It was MARK II.

Miss Grace Hopper, who is seen on the picture above, was the one who reported the first bug.

Operators traced an error in the Mark II to a moth trapped in a relay, coining the term bug.

This bug was carefully removed and taped to the log book.

Stemming from the first bug, today we call errors or glitches in a program a bug.

Hopper was not actually the one who found the insect, as she readily acknowledged.

More info can be found here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bug

Here is the first bug ever found. Yup! It was actually a REAL bug.

XD  Seems that women are really god to nail bugs XD

I never knew there was a Mark II

:D

Aww  I HAVE to go and see for more!  (I know a certain Copper prototype that needs more background work :p )

ADDENDUM

At the beginning of home computer getting into the first animation box where I worked -traditionally-, an Amiga was handling our digitalizer for anim-test and the first Mac Apple classic was handling scripting part (No way we would had ran anim or thought Mac would be only made for that one day).  Then, for some reason, Cell Vinyl kinda came in contact with the keyboard -for no apparent reason? or the Mac once too much asked to throw a disk to the bin or shown a bomb- and a technician had to clean up the keyboard key by key.  At one point the obstinate instrument just got more edgy and someone ought to pluck out key by key the keyboard to find out what was the bug.  In fact, it was really a worm!  No kidding!  a WORM in a appl...  Oh!  Yeah the boss kinda scowled one junior peculiar animator you might like because how was later on just depicted the mystery about where was gone that byte part of the rainbow colored Apple logo.

Yeah, the first computer WORM in an Apple.  :p   I'm not responsible for that Animatrix sequence years later!  XD

ADDENDUM, ADDENDUM

You sure that Wikipedia article ain't a fake?  I mean a Grasshopper (Grace Hopper) reporting in a computer finding a moth ?!  o_O

Yes I am sure, it is very interesting Coincidence though. You have a pun detector preinstalled I see.

As for the worm In Apple, I couldn't stop laughing reading this.

And I do believe you.

Once I got a laptop to fix and by opening it I found a worm alive in it. So nothing can impress me anymore. :p

For the record, Back in the late 80s my father had to make a choice.

Macintosh or Amiga?

I was a kid.There was no internet.

My father could understand a few things though.

Few but enough to see the power Amiga had.

I can't thank him enough for buying me my first computer ever, Commodore Amiga 500.

It is still my favorite system.

Putted the following video into a spoiler because it smells cheese from 80. :p

No seriously, this is cheesy! You have been warned.

If only Malwarebyte could find puns too :p   (or the inverse on me... oh wait!  I already have all the bugs on me already... XD)

Hey not my fault for the laptop, it wasn't me; I live in Canada!  It might be each times your computer freeze tought <jk>

I'm happy you didn't found a root kit in your laptop :p   (Worst thing is that reading this there might be someone out there to put a very small seed chia type and just use a drop a day so by the end of one week someone gets panicked at the grassy keyboard.  Awwwwww -a good one I will loose credit for :p -)

Worst part today if evolution would had not taken the crap path we would have today the Mac vs Amiga fight  and  Beta would had ruled over VHS!!!!

No, seriously, Amiga ruled!

Awesome tutorial! I just started using RPG Maker, I was completely stuck on switches and variables.  I was eagerly anticipating those lessons, and I was not disappointed. I almost instantly realized what I had been doing wrong.  The only thing I'm having trouble doing now is having a NPC come out of a building and approach the characters when they reach a certain point. If anyone has any advice here, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your kind words.

If you finish the game you will be able to know every little feature VX Ace has available.

From there it is just a puzzle really! :p

What you ask is really something more complex that the basics I guess. Let me take this from here.

This can show you the power of switches by the way.

But doing it with switches really makes messy events.

You can make cut scenes more elegant using less stuff.

For start here is a project in a zipped file that demonstrates the whole thing done using one event make all things happen.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mqaierjh1chiwoc/001.zip?dl=0

Please take the time to read this article too:

http://blog.rpgmakerweb.com/tips-and-tricks/events-arent-npcs/

Note that to make it trigger, instead of talking to an npc, you can step on an invisible event below hero that can make an auto start.

LOL Why do you wanna torture yourself? Hahahaha!

=================================================================================================================================================

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POST:

Here is a link to a tutorial on what I was asked:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/37891-eventing-tutorial-door-opens-npc-comes-out-cut-scene-how-to-do-it/#entry376392

If someone wants to personally ask ME about an advanced question, they can create a thread (for everyone to participate on the solution) and then PM me the link asking me to participate too. Let's be team players. There might be no need to participate, since there are ninjas out there ready to shoot stars of enlightment to you people. ;)

So I kindly request not to post eventing questions here on this thread. You can still post feedback or questions about the tutorial itself, but not "how to" stuff.

I don't want this thread to turn into a vaccum cleaner for any query on "how to do stuff" out there. :)

After all, such things deserve their own thread right? ;)

That so cool that you teach eventing on other treads:)  Thanks Dread!

BTW, about torturing myself, well you should see my screen now... a slight profile of a snarly demon straight out of $Big_Monster2 sheet is camping on nine level of my Photoshop :p and I'm about certain not to ever use it...  Still I think of making it fly with his 6 wings *facepalm*

But you know I have a to do list to make.  Preferably one that don't ask me to fetch into my boxes scattered in all the apartment and use my cluttered up working surfaces. :p   So it leaves me the computer, drawing by mouse, and translating.  Plus Dimitris sent me the link to OBS so... errr wellll...  I might eventually reconfigure my RPGMaker in my native tongue and quick film all events?!  :)

OBS? Oh! The Open source streaming software? Yeah that is a fantastic piece of software. As for other tutorials, actually Marquise I want to avoid everyone coming here on this thread and ask about everything. I might make a few new tutorials myself, if I believe it is essential and also I will gladly reply to any thread that will be sent to me via PM (or spot it alone).

But I don't want THIS thread closed.

If THIS thread will draw questions from anyone AND if I start replying HERE, it will turn into a vaccum cleaner for newcomer's queries.

This will be like saying: "HEY, EVERYONE SUCKS, I'M A GENIUS COME TO ME TO GIVE YOU ANSWERS, I AM DA BEST"

That's not in my intentions as you can understand, I try to adapt to a forum community keeping in mind the special netiquette rules, thus I already KNOW that if I would let such a thing happen it would really turn out bad for no reason.

Because tell you what. Answering every question arising, is not the point of the thread, so if I will keep on replying to everyone HERE, the thread will be derailed by me and this  will probably FORCE a moderator to lock the thread. Something I don't wanna happen.

This thread is here, so people can find and get a tutorial I made.

This thread is for leaving some feedback or asking a question if they have problem using it.

It is NOT for asking more and more questions about RPG Maker VX Ace. :)

A pesron came to report me a "bug", then we talked about bugs for a little, that's another thing, I really don't mind.

But having everyone coming and asking HERE questions like "How do I..." will not draw the proper attention of the community to their query, I might not be able to help, I might delay answering, I might not answer at all, and they would waste their time here, while they could just ask the WHOLE community by creating a new thread and have their question answered, faster, better, by many different kind of people and perspectives.

If it can help, I plan starting this after I complete my "Initiation" (inside joke)so by then I'll both handle better RPGMaker, plus I will have no choice to switch my setting to French (so with the real French Interface instead to translate everything around an English interface that already had been translated in French) because I work on a French version of my game using the English interface... Of course I will have to do a duplicate and revise while I put stuff back into English on the original.

So by then, I might had tried everything French and English-wise interface!

:)

So it'll mean by then you might be gazillionlingual on program languages. :)

That would be grat, cause I also get pressure from my job to make things done, I find very little time everyday to do common stuff but never the time I need to add a translation.

Oh well :p I liik foward to it in the future. :D
