So, i'm a noob here.

I got rpg maker vx ace about a week ago, on the trial version. [missed the steam summer sale :( ]

anyways, i'm trying to make a scene where my character stops and another character approaches him, says something, than walks back to their original position

just like the scene from pokemon where oak tries to stop you from going into the tall grass

heres what my event pages look like: [attached]

the dialouge and the approacher returning are not implemented yet.

the problem is, i have no idea how to get my character to stay put

while i was searching google i saw a different thread on this but it didnt help

sorry if you don't understand, i tried to explain it as best as possible

any help will be appreciated

Your 'trigger' event should be the only event controlling things. You can make other events move using the move route command, and selecting the ID number of the event you wish to move. Don't use the 'approach' option here, just manually insert your own move route and lead it to where the player is.

You are not approaching this from the right direction.

You do not want a parallel process in your event.

Just make it the default action button on the first page.

There is too much to explain here.

Would you consider taking a couple tutorials?

The one on switches in my signature will answer your situation completely, but you may want to check out some others first.

So i changed everthing accordingly [or so i think] and it glitched up even more

when i am one tile away from the trigger, and i go to step on the trigger, i can't. It blocks me from going onto the trigger. What's even more weird is that while im running into the trigger [say, i hold the left arrow key down] the approacher just twitches [she moves 90 degrees back and forth]

i'm going to go do this tutorial before i try anything else

again, sorry if i'm comfusing or wasting your time on a stupid question

what i changed is attached

You know what, actually, i'm just going to keep it un-complicated and make it so youjust have to walk up to her to talk to her.

I really recommend the tutorials, it's very important to actually get an understanding of the basics of the program. Going on blind does you a disfavour.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
