From Lite to Full Version

Ok, so I'm having an issue here. A few months ago, I started downloaded the lite(free) version of VX Ace and I started working on a project. Eventually, I saved up and got the full version, and kept working on my game, no problem. So the other day, I had some ideas I wanted to test out but didnt want to mess anything up in my game so I opened a second project just for testing stuff and I noticed something. In my second project, I had a lot more resources than I did in my actual game project. As far as I can tell, despite my buying the full version, the game project is still technically in lite mode. It says its the full version, but I dont have half the character sheets, faces, music, etc that I'm supposed to have. So, finally my question is: How can get my game project to register that its the full version? I mean, I guess I can start over in a new project, but I don't want to have to do all those months of work all over again! I tried copying and pasting the map data into the second project's folder but wont recognize it at all. Anyone have any ideas?

Make a new project in Full Ace, copy the game.rvproj and game.ini files (or simply the RTP= line from the new game.ini file into your old one), that way, your project will now recognize the RTP

 Where do I find these files?

on the project folder of both your old and new project of course

there should be those files inside your project folder if you browse thru it...


normally the project folder would have these:


Audio Folder


Graphics Folder


System Folder


Movies Folder


Game.rvproj (or maybe .rvproj2)


Game.exe


Game.ini


PS: use windows explorer, not the resource manager just in case you did try to use that

the text file of course.. you can always set the view to show file extensions, or right click -> properties to see the file type

Idk, I did what you said, and it changed nothing. So I tried bringing the data (maps) over from the project1 file to the project2 file and I got all my maps with events intact but no tiles. So then I brought everything over and now the only difference from before is that its now called Project 2. I may just need to start all over :'(

That's weird... if you copied both the ini and rvproj file from the new project to the old one it should already link your project to the RTP...


unless you didn't actually installed the RTP... in that case, download the RTP from the links on the topmost nav bar here... unless it's still opening as Lite

Its not that its opening the project in the Lite program. Its opening in the regular program, but a bunch of resources are missing. For example: In the characters section, I only get sprites for people4 and people 5. If I make a new project I get people1 thru people 5.

it's quite weird... last time I tried, that worked for switching Lite project to full...


anyway, you can still opt to just import the whole RTP into the project folder


but then again, I'd really suggest just importing what you need instead of the whole RTP

I know this is a dumb question but what do you mean by RTP?

the Run Time Package, the resources that you see by default on those projects are from the RTP... so if you can't really make your old project auto-link to the RTP, then you can opt to import them manually (via the resource manager or via just browsing using windows explorer, then copy paste)


though as I said above, I do prefer just importing what you need than importing the whole RTP... unless ur gonna use most of it

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
