RPG Maker Forums

Let me begin by saying that this is a very unusual RPG Maker game, in that it's not limited to RPG Maker itself.

RPG Maker determines how enemies are fought, whether attacks hit or miss, etc...  and it also provides the appearance of the game itself.

But what makes it different from other RPG Maker games is that the game is not experienced by running a game executable, but rather by watching a story unfold and deciding what happens next.

Synopsis:

In From Nothing, players take on the role of one of 500 Geracian refugees forced to flee their home after the sudden, unprovoked attack by the neighboring nation of Xain.  Trapped by enemies on all sides, they have no choice but to flee across the Sea of Death, from which no ship is said to return, in hopes that they can reach the mythical "Lost Continent."

Fortunately, luck is with them, and the refugees survive the journey, only to find themselves on an unfamiliar continent filled with creatures (and magic!) said to have been wiped out eons ago. Not willing to just up and die, these brave settlers must head out into the great unknown, in search of food and materials to build tools and weapons with.

In time, they will build their settlement up from nothing.  From Log cabins to stone houses, to castles and even cities.

But that all depends on the decisions you make.

Features:

An advice/volunteer action system.

Players post advice that they wish to give the princess and vote on the advice of others.  This allows a group of players to shape settlement policy.

Or, they can volunteer for both dangerous or mundane tasks, going out into the wilderness in the hope of obtaining desperately needed food.

A five tier class tree system.

All danger seeking players start out in the adventurer class.  Every twenty levels, they get the option to switch to one of two (three at level 20) potential new classes, specializing their characters the way they choose.  This branching class system leads to 24 distinct classes at LVL 80 (Tier 5), or 46 classes total.

Other Features:

High stat scaling, useful AGI and LUK, item crafting, auto-battle that's considerably smarter than the default.

How to play:

The first episode can be watched here.

You can create a character and join the game here.:

I can upload a link to the actual executable if it's really necessary, but given the format of the game it's kind of pointless.  For one thing, there are specific trigger points you're likely to miss.

I'd like any advice on spreading the word about the game, if possible.  I think I have a good concept, it's just not reaching the audience.

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
