I am having an issue with RPG Maker 2000 specifically, and I am unsure of the root cause. It changes the screen resolution to 640x480 but then leaves the game itself at some other resolution; just going off of it looks it appears to be 1.5x the size of the original 320x240 resolution. If anyone here knows a potential fix to this problem I would appreciate it.issue.png

Appears to be 512x384px
It looks like something in the video driver or maybe DirectX is changing values in process memory.

In Windows XP something similar happens, but just press the F5 key once that solves it.

I tried doing that method and it seems like it was already at it's max size before, so F5 just made it smaller.issue2.png

Wouldn't you by any chance be using two monitors simultaneously?

Sorry, I think it has something to do with the video card driver.
Could you tell me your Windows version and your motherboard model?

Go to your project folder.
Right-click on the RPG_RT.exe icon
Select Properties
First try enabling compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3
If it doesn't work enable Disable Fullscreen optimization

If that doesn't work, try downloading a game made with Rm2k3 instead of Rm2k.
And do the test, probably the error won't happen because in this case Rm2k3 uses GDI instead of DirectDraw.

The first option didn't work. I'd take the RM2k3 option into consideration, but the reason I'm using RM2k is because I'm making my own game with it, not trying to play others.

I think you misunderstood, I asked you to download any game made with Rm2k3 and not migrate to Rm2k3.
In this case, it was for you to test the DirectDraw mode of Rm2k3 as shown in the example window, to find out if the same error occurs.

Oh. Well I tried using DirectDraw in an RM2k3 game and I didn't have the same issue, so I think it's exclusive to 2k.

Thank you for correctly following the guidelines for the test, can I introduce you to a tool still under development that can help right now?

In the future I intend to improve some aspects, also try to solve the false positive in some anti-virus

I found some inspiration and have started work on a Point and Click style exploration game in a dead mall. I am hopefully going to push MZ in some unexpected directions. I always love seeing the engine do things that folks might not expect. Its good to have found some direction. Thanks for the support a few weeks back when the writers blog was hitting heavy.
Don't you want your heroes or monsters to lose some of their MAXHP or MAXMP? Don't you?
Really, why wouldn't you? :p
Yeah, it's gonna get worse after every hit they take, but so what?
Aren't they courageous fighters? Or stupidly brute mobsters?
