Well shoot... Looks like it's curtains for me... I got my RPG Maker MV as a free gift from an old friend. After updating it my free stuff is expired. I can't afford the game and haven't been in contact with that friend in ages... Meaning I can no longer work on my Projects... my fun is done.





I will miss my creations but what can i do?

She installed it into my comp and didn't tell me the key.I thought it was a completely free thing that I had forever.

Then its probably really either you get that person to tell you the key, or you buy a new one. There's lots of sales on steam and on humble bundle so you can always wait for the price to go low if you wanna but it

the key is the ownership of the program, and no it isn't free - never was.
Either your friend forgot to give you the key, or he/she installed a pirated copy on your computer. given how the installation works, it almost had to have been a pirated copy however...

There are alternatives however.
MV was or is currently on sale for about 20$, but such a sale is rare and if it is past, you'll probably have to wait a year to get a similiar sale again.
The slightly older VX Ace however is on sale several times a year for less than 10$, so that might be a better alternative.
And then there is the completely free VX Ace Lite (only available through steam however), that is limited by the number of maps and objects and events, but could be used free.
