What is Fursona?
The Island of Sodor is under threat of an evil galactic empire. An animal goddess from Sodor's pre-Christian days picks Zack Edwards, a teenager from the town of Knapford to find an old space wizard known as a Jectha in the form of man Stratus Kenn in Ffarquhar. Beginning an adventure across the Island of Sodor, facing against the evil empire, an Amercian weapons company, and even Starmen. Find out in this wacko RPG adventure!

Fursona is a fangame set in the world of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. The game combines story beats, characters, and concepts from Final Fantasy VII and the Star Wars films to create an adventure that unlike anything done before it.

CREDITS
By request here is a video of the credits which contain sources for graphics and sound assets. As far as sources for plot related thingies, the game mixes things from Star Wars Episodes 3, 4, 5, and 6 as well as from Final Fantasy 7 set in the world of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, originally known as The Railway Series. Also I do need to remind that this is a fangame and needn't be taken seriously as much as an original game of higher quality. This is was just something I wanted to make and that's that. Also I will be working on more original projects and me making fangames will only be a once in a while thing. Here are the Credits:

It seems the Windows version can't be downloaded from Game Jolt at the moment. Edit: Never mind, seems to have been a temporary issue on Game Jolt's side; the download works now.

While the game isn't bad, there are too many issues that spoil my enjoyment.

Firstly, the ATB should at least feature an optional automatic full-wait function. As things stand at the moment, battles are just composed of senseless hack & slash.

Secondly, why not let players save anywhere? This is a really frustrating design choice, considering there's an annoying autosave feature that saves the game after each battle, when opening and closing the menu and when entering a new map. And the way the autosave works, it's easily possible for the player to lose a lot of progress because of it in case of a bug. Yeah, I know, there's the "save cat" in towns, and there's a purchasable, consumable item (250 Gold) that lets the player save anywhere, but should my sorry little save-cummer arse buy hundreds of them while pursuing the 1000000 Gold achievement?

Lastly, the game is riddled with bugs. Granted, most of them aren't serious, but one in particular (because of which I can't access several side quests) made me decide to quit my playthrough. This is what I've found so far (beginning of act 2):

- On the title screen, 1.0.0 is displayed as version number, even though it should be version 1.0.1 by now.

- The following error message is displayed after dying in battle:
TypeError
Cannot read property 'lastSkill' of null

- The HP value that is shown when moving around is always the same as the MP value.

- Even though the player is supposed to pay for train tickets, they actually don't cost anything.

- It seems the in-game shopping (spending money) achievements don't work.

- Ether restores 300 MP (not 100 MP as falsely stated in the item's description).

- If the player cancels the usage of the Savior Cross (i.e. doesn't save the game), the item breaks (i.e. is consumed) afterwards nonetheless.

- Quest log: The side quest "Into The Ether" isn't moved to the completed section upon completion.

- Lower Cave: It's possible to simply walk past the Arctic Hydra (might or might not be intentional).

- Is Mr. Bachmann the vendor in all craft shops (seems like an oversight while copying & pasting NPC dialogue)?

- North Tower, F5: One of the visible/moving enemies on the left side is stuck in a boulder.

- Bestiary entry no. 67 shows a mimic instead of the actual boss enemy.

- After completing North Tower: If the party returns to North Tower F7, a sprite of the previously fought boss can be seen standing around.

- During act 2, PT Boomer continuously offers to teach the party the Multi Bottle Rocket crafting recipe, even when he has already taught the party said crafting recipe.

- It seems to be an odd choice that Medium Drones (bestiary entry no. 19) drop Monster Fangs and Monster Furs.

- Crafting a Steel Sword actually produces an Iron Sword.

- Crafting a Steel Bangle actually produces a Steel Cap.

- Why can a Steel Buckler be crafted without steel (by only using wood)?

- Since NPC dialogue inside villages isn't updated, NPCs (like the one standing in front of Knapford's train station) still talk about the "broken bridges" even when they have already been repaired.

- The main quest "What Do We Do" can be advanced without talking to Topham Hatt at Knapford and Percival at Wellsworth, since the player can simply explore the warehouse at Brendam Docks as soon as (s)he is supposed to talk to Topham Hatt (at least this issue doesn't impair main quest progression negatively).

- Accepting the side quest "Ghostbusters" at Wellsworth doesn't spawn Shadows at Brendam Docks, which might or might not be related to completing objectives out of order during the main quest "What Do We Do" (see above). Since all Wellsworth side quests have to be finished in order, this bug cuts players off from most of them.

I get to fixing these bugs, thank you for reporting them.

EDIT: All bugs have been fixed except for the saving and the TypeError.

Saving: The game was designed to not be saved all the time except for items or talking to a cat at any of the town's railway station. But the best I can do for your complaint is to remove autosaves and decrease the price of the Savior Cross to 50 British Pounds.

The TypeError did not pop up for me so I need more info on how and when that occured. Also I fixed the achievement and nerfed the money related ones. I'm sorry if my lack of bug fixes (due to me being quite burnt out at the end of development) made you not want to play it any further.

These bug fixes will be going live on Gamejolt shortly.

If I remember correctly, the TypeError occurred when I fought and lost with Zack alone against two Southern Crabs in the cave north of the quarry.

I will get right on that, most likely its probably a plugin related error but I will see what I can do.

You've evidently taken a lot of inspiration from other games, FF VII in particular. I've payed a small potion of your game but to be honest I find it hard to continue and take you seriously when you don't even acknowledge your sources. Your game is on the right track but your resource usage is your flaw. You can do better,

Don't worry I reference all musical and graphical sources within the credits which can only be seen after beating the game...If you wish I can make it so the credits could be seen at an earlier time. If you want me put the sources on the forum page then I will get right on to it.

If its sources of inspiration (which is a stretch because this is a fangame after all), I have mentioned numerous times that does take plot bits from Star Wars and FF7 but if you want I will also update the thread with such sources.

Sorry I did see you say you'd drawn inspiration from other sources but I didn't see until now that you intend this to be a fan game.
I'm three hours into your game at the moment. I'm enjoying it. The way you've used casper667's craft system is really nice. I like how you deliberately don't allow for certain resources like PCB to be easily accessible so that the player has to craft that item so that they can use that crafted item to craft another item that is not findable anywhere.
Some of the text needs a little refinement but overall it's good. The enemy crabs in the quarry are a little overpowered. They're not so bad once you obtain Dan, but before that, their water attack is a bit frightening.
One thing I don't like is the popup when you obtain new craft recipes. It's slow and the popup covers other dialogue windows.

Do you have an estimated time of completion?

Estimated total playtime is around 4 hours with minimal attention to sidequests (i.e. only completed a handful). As far as the pop ups go, I'm not sure how to make them go by faster and I did have the problem while testing that they cover up the text box but I kinda had to just deal with it, but someday I'll have a go at making that a slightly less frustrating experience.

They're larvae, not fightae, honest!
I've made a big emphasis on visually representing things to make the game as accessible as possible.

Grimoires will consist of 5 - 10 pages of skills (still finalizing that max number)

Since each actor is able to take multiple actions per turn, each skill will cost 1-5 pages
This prevents more powerful skills from being uber spammed during an actors turn.
Cats are so easy. I noticed the gray one would never nap in the office while I worked, so I put a blanket on the spare chair in here and now she won't leave.
