Hello, everyone, I would like some help/advice please ><
My first completed rpg game was a visual novel, it had voice acting, screenshot scenes of 3d models used, and it ended with a video. I was learning as I made it, so only about halfway through did I think to render the screenshots into smaller files. I didn't use any of the sprites, ect, that come with rpg vx ace, and I feel all that data + voice recordings + original music + large data screenshots, and ending animated video are what resulted in a 1hour-ish long game that took about that long to download.
I have a few questions that all relate to eliminating extra data, to help further compress a game? I mostly ask this because in my current project I will have voice acting with several short scenes, both animated and made with directed sprites. There is original music for it to.
Questions:
1- What is the smallest picture format rpg maker can use, that won't look crappy?
2 - What is the smallest video format rmvx can use, but also maintains good quality?
3 - What is the smallest audio format vx can use that still sounds good?
4 - Is there anyway not to compress unused data? (example: textures, character pictures, buildings, sfx, ect)
