Hey all!
I'm wondering if we'll be getting any updates addressing the lag in the Steam version of RPG Maker 2k3. I've seen multiple people talk or post about small, brief jitters and frame losses when using the Steam RPG Maker 2k3. I'm stressing the Steam version because I have imported my projects from the new version back into Tsukuru and the lag I'm talking about completely disappears. I'd hoped this was a playtest thing... but no, even when creating a Game Disk in Steam, the lag is still visible in the "finished" version of the project.
Unfortunately - or at least as far as I know - you can't make a project in the Steam version, then import it into Tsukuru to fix the lag problem. When exported from Tsukuru, the game will request the ultimate_dl file that comes with the Steam version. I haven't found a way around this yet, as then we could build our games in the Steam version (which is far superior for working on the game, just not releasing it) before importing them into Tsukuru for the final export, effectively canceling out the lag.
If anyone has any information on this let me know. I know this is old software but I freaking love RPG Maker 2k3 - in my opinion, still the best RPG Maker available. There's something that sets it apart; perhaps the availability of incredible charsets and chipsets is one reason, as you can create such unique games without having to learn about resource crafting.
I'm getting off-topic tbh. I have to sing the praises of this program (which I've been using for around 10+ years) even if it's legacy-ware. I'd love the lag to be fixed so I could release my game properly and have others do the same. It's so frustrating to put hours and hours into a game you love and have it struggle due to lag issues not present in the original version of the software. I would pay more money, personally, to see these lag issues fixed, for the sake of the final quality of my game.
Thanks to anyone who read this wall of text and I hope to hear some news on lag adjustments soon.
