Hi everyone,

Here at Degica, one of the things we take great pride in is that we work hard on facilitating communication between software developers of programs like RPG Maker and software fans such as yourselves. Whether we’re forwarding a bug a user has found or sharing an exciting new feature the developer just finished, we love being involved in the process of moving and shaping RPG Maker.

We are currently working with Kadokawa (RPG Maker developer) on plotting a course for future development of RPG Maker MV. We’re excited by RPG Maker MV’s potential, and strive to make it a program that’s both fun and easy to use.

While our end goal is to provide you all with a better program, we also want to ensure we’re going about it the right way – by prioritizing and implementing the suggestions/fixes that are the most essential to the RPG Maker community. As our development resources are limited (even by factors such as time), it’s become even more important that we prioritize elements that help our users the most.

You can help us by heading over to the RPG Maker MV improvement boards and proposing your ideas for bug fixes, changes to the application, or new features. You can review other suggestions and vote for them by “liking” the first post.

Voting is an important part of the process, and another great way to help, as it will help us determine which suggestions are considered to be the most valued by the community. You can easily review the list of ideas that are being voted on at the Top Suggestions page, and cast your vote from there as well. Note that there are no limits on how many ideas you can vote on – so, please feel free to support as many suggestions as you agree with.

We can’t promise that we’ll be able to implement any or all suggestions (some of them might be opposite, after all), but we will continue to work hard to make our current and future fans happy.

-Degica Team-

Thanks! Just finished browsing the threads in the links you provided above, and didn't see an existing suggestion for this. Guess I'll add a new one.

Seconding what Sharm had to say, thank you so much for continuing to interact with the users and seek out improvement suggestions from the community. That means a lot, especially when it'd be so easy to publish software and leave it there.
I think my only point of confusion was that I thought the point of the Editor Improvement posts were the polls inside, not liking the first page. For example, I had suggested something about event searching and some people have voted in agreement, but no one "liked" the post. So maybe that information needs to get out there a bit more effectively? Just a suggestion.
Thank you again :kaothx:

I don't know if it has to do with the Chromium game wrapper RPG Maker uses, or the rpg-scripts that it's running, but I still can't use cmd functions in the Steam Mac MV playtest Dev Tools. The biggest issue I see with this is copy/paste; I can't do it. I've been getting by, just selecting the text and dragging it to my text editor.

It's dedication like this that has kept me here instead of turning to Unity or Gamemaker for more advanced development. Bravo!

Somethings require alot of script work to handle, but having built in extensions would help a larger part of the user base have access to easy functionality. For example, a GUI designer, a cutscene recorder, a particle effects designer etc.

I can tell you that learning this is a great skill to have. I would totally recommend it.

That being said, without scripting skillset this program feels more like a trial of something else.

I can't speak for everyone, but i do appreciate the fact that you help give the users a voice to the folks over at Kadokawa.
It's appreciated that they can hear us now.
Personally, i've always said the west needed it's own RPG Maker as we tend to expect something different..

Actually I was reading an article the other day, where they had an interview about RPG Maker as far as Japan goes and it was said that things had started to become stagnant over there when it came to RPG Maker, while in the west there were still very loud voices wanting more..

So it kinda shocks me that MV stuck with the same mapping setup as Ace.. then again they did add that overlapping feature.. but i still feel like it was a step back where as XP was a step forward as far as mapping goes.

My hope is that they hear us more and these sorts of things get addressed, either in this maker with an update, or the next one.. if there ever is a next one.
It seems to me... and i'm just theorizing... that we might not get another one for some time, and that MV will continue to get "tools" over time to add more to it.

I look forward to the future of this software.

I am excited and hope the focus continues towards mobile, making iPhone and Android development a priority along with smart watch and augmented reality via smart glass. Mobile and tablets along with watch and smart glass/AR are the platforms of the future and I for one would love to be able to expand my current MV work into AR via SmartGlass and Apple Watch.

I agree.
I thought the same thing when they released Vx

Yes and no. A lot of people overlook the real difference between XP mapping and later mapping as they only look at the results, not the process. And from a specific point of view that change is an improvement, not a step back.

That difference is manual layering to automatic layering. Setting a layer for a tile manually does give greater control, but it also requires you to set that layer and makes mapping more work and more complex to learn.
With automatic layering (everything in A goes to the bottom layer and so on) mapping is faster and requires less steps, but it also limits what you can do on the map.

So if your target is to simplify mapping and make it easier to use for new users, the change was an improvement. It's just not an improvement for everyone.

i believe it was an overall improvement for anyone who chooses to embrace it. if you take the time to understand the workflow then you can greatly increase your mapping speed. if you combine that with utilizing tilesets "D" and "E" for all your XP-esque aesthetics, then you will have the best of both worlds.

sometimes you have to embrace change. the modifications were big improvements all around, in my opinion.

I had a lot to say.. but i rather not derail things further.
I will just say i find it less easy.. and more annoying.

Archeia has a great post she put up for improvements to the editor that i agree with completely on.

i just think it is great that we are finally receiving constant updates to the editor. i have a ultra hd monitor on my samsung and when i first purchased RPGMakerMV i could barely see anything because of limitations to the applications dpi settings. someone brought it up and it was solved by the team in an update; what these guys are doing is wonderful moving forward with the editor and i am really excited about it.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
