Yes. Like if I had a parallax map at night with a dark layer with lamp posts lights.

Currently I don't know how to set to the upper left and not moving when I scroll.

The XSHIFT and YSHIFT values should be 0, then the layer will stick to the map for parallax mapping.

Grab the demo with an example of it.

Make sure the layer is the same size as the map

The layer and the parallax map are the same size. I am using the latest version 1.2 and turned off the other plugins.

Could you please check my input because for some reason, I can't get the layer shown through Plugin Command: LAYER 11 1 Night 0 0 255 5 0 0 0

    or get it to stick with Map notes: LAYER 1 Night 0 0 255 5 0 0 0

The plugin command and note look correct.

hmmmm - Are you using a plugin that changes the default tile size from 48 pixels to something else?

Ah, I see now. I did turn off Change Tile Size plugin and others to make sure, but I forgot I edited some tile settings in the default .js files.

I went ahead and edit your script's setting from 48 to 32. It works perfectly now.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I'll make a note to add that as a setting for future updates. :)

EDIT: And done - added setting to specify tile size.

Hey, I'm running into a memory issue when opening and closing the in-game menu. Every time I close the menu after opening it, it adds to the usage and never goes down. It takes a few seconds of hitting the menu button quickly to ramp up the memory usage and pretty much grind the computer to a halt. It seems to raise it in correlation to how many layers I'm using at once.

The images are being re-cached each time and not being disposed or something?

Asides from this problem the script is perfect for what I'm making so thanks!

I managed to replicate the memory usage how you mentioned (having to spam open and close menu many times for me haha). I updated to 1.5, making a few changes that seemed to positively affect this, the memory usage went back down more quickly after the menu open/close spamming.

Please download new version (make sure to go into the plugin in the plugin manager, click okay and save after you update the file) and let me know if you see any improvements your end. Thanks!

Hi Galv, thanks for that, it appears to still create 100% drive usage though, bringing the system process up the list and to a halt. It only seems to happen with your plugin enabled and I'm not using particularly large images or anything so it can't be that. It seems to just shoot the system usage up as soon as you close the menu and then every repeat of that action quickly makes use of the rest.  :dizzy:

Are you using a parallel process or anything to create layers?

EDIT: Does it happen for you in the plugin demo?

I'll just check the demo, one sec.

Edit: I've checked the demo now and didn't really get the same problem, it wasn't noticable. I then placed the images that I'm using into your demo and that's when the problems started again. I'm using very large images but they have small file sizes. Do larger sized images work for you? (4000px width, transparent .png - 16kb in size)

Edit2: I'm trying my images at half the resolution (around 2000px width) and it is still building up heavy usage after opening and closing the menu a few times in a row. What exactly happens when the menu scene opens and closes in relation to this plugin? Not sure if it's related but I'm just using the map notetags to place the layers.

RPG Maker MV redraws the sprite and bitmap every time you close/open your menu. Although 4000x4000 worked fine in my project (on my PC), I wouldn't recommend using big images at all - Seems that might be a bit high for rpgmaker to handle. I tested up to 8000x8000 and my computer did not like that one bit.

The layers work just like the default parallax. I tested the large images in the parallax with the same thing happening.

I think this will depend on PC specs.

If you're using this plugin for mapping, I would recommend significantly smaller maps. It doesn't appear it can handle images with large dimensions.

But I will look into this more to see what I can work out and let you know when I get time.

    Thanks for helping test!

Thanks Galv, I hope there is some way round this eventually. I was using your ace version originally but I'm redesigning my game for MV now so having overlays that move at different x speeds is crucial to getting my pseudo-side scroller look. Did ace handle things differently in this department? I had no issues using larger images in the ace version but they caused the frame rate to suffer instead (this version runs smooth as butter until you start using the menu scene.) Thanks again for your scripting super powers!

MV works different to Ace, yeah. It does seem like there's an issue with how MV handles images in memory.

Have you tried plugins that control cache such as Shaz's (below)? See if this helps, make sure to add img/layers folder to the custom ones in the settings.

From other posts I have read, they are working on official bug fixes to these memory issues... hopefully they fix this up.

Hello, I wanted to say that in You plugin we can use more, then 6 layers - It's funny :D

But I have one question. Is it possible to make any layer "Above All", that will be above ivent with "Above character" position.

    I mean that:

The ivent in the center (positon "Abow character") is above a layer with z=5. Is it possible to make a layer that will be above this ivent?

I'm sorry, I don't think I am understanding. Why is using more than 6 layers funny?

You can set the z position for each layer as you said. Decimal places work as well if you need to be inbetween two integers.

"Cool", "nice", "good". I used the wrong word? Sorry )

Oh, I understood: the layers are not attached to the "z".

Just updated to v.1.6 - you can now add layers that do not tile (repeat) to the map - and also battle layers have now been implemented.
