would YEP_ClassChangeCore not be an option to do so and bind the items
to the common events for each class?if they can equip only one?

I think this could simplify things, but I can be wrong.
the main problem here probably are the skills for each class
which require all -skill and add +skill for that required class? (when learned)
or obtained.

I've actually looked into that plugin, hoping that it would be able to do what I'm after. The biggest complication with using the plugin though being that players can equip up to 9 shards, with the class they become being calculated dependent on the combination of their equipped shards.

In case it's of any help, another solution I tried was using one of the multiple extra stats plugins available to track which shards are equipped. However not only does this require the menu to be closed before the class change can happen (something I'd really love to avoid, if at all possible), but also Galv's plugin seems to ignore all notetags given to the shards besides his own.
