Menu Fade - Version 1.1
RPG Maker MV Plugin
Galv
Introduction
I noticed there was no fade when going in/out of the menu in MV.


Features
Adds fade in and fade out to menu scenes when transitioning from and to the map.


How to Use
- Copy the "GALV_MenuFade.js" file into your project's /js/plugins/ folder.
- Activate plugin using the 'Plugin Manager'

Nice! this even works with monster/item book plugins :D  opening from field.

It should work with any scene that uses Scene_MenuBase that is transitioned to via the map :)

Galv, for some reason, the menu only fades when I close the menu, but no when I open it. I'm using a empty project without plugins.


Do I need to change something in the parameters?


P.D.: Eem... sorry about the necroposting, I've noticed it now.

Do you have the Sync FPS plugin by Yanfly on? I turned it off for this plugin to function.

I'm using a empty project without plugins.


Maybe the plugin needs an update to work with the new version of the engine, but I really don't know if this works in an older version. At least, the plugin don't work in 1.3.2/1.3.3 version of the Maker.

I have just tested in 1.3.2 and 1.3.3 and it works for me. Can you change the fade speed to 30 to test for me and see if the fade is working or if it's just happening too fast during the scene load?

That's it. It's like you said. The problem is, when you open the menu, the FPS drops (I don't know why) and the transition doesn't work fine, because it happens to fast to be viewed. When you close the menu, the transition works perfectly, and the FPS drops after that.

I will revisit this one when I have time and rewrite it to be more efficient.

Galv, did you check the bug about the fade in with the menu I've reported months ago? I would like to use this plugin without problems so I can emulate the same effects of VX and VX Ace, but the fade in effect is not working even with the newest versions of MV.

Could it be possible to fix this issue?

What kind of specs does your computer have? As I said, it works fine for me so I cannot replicate the issue.

  • 1024 MB of Total Memory
  • Pixel Shader Version 5.0
  • Vertex Shader Version 5.0
Video Card #2:
  • AMD Radeon HD 8610G + HD 8670M Dual Graphics
  • 3.0 GB of Dedicated Memory
  • 4.0 GB of Total Memory
  • Pixel Shader Version 5.0

OS:
  • Windows 10 Home (64-bit) Build 1703 (a.k.a. Creators Update)
Also, I would like to mention that this issue is partially fixed if, in a project with your plugin, you add "YEP FPS Synch Option". If you turn OFF the Synch option in the options menu, the fade in will work at the beginning, but after a few minutes of playing it will start to fail again, so the main menu will appear suddenly again, without the effect.

I think this can be related in the way MV draws the windows, because it is producing an horrible frame drop, that seems to be the cause of this issue.
