I'm pleased to hear the problem is solved.

As for the colors, I won't provide different versions of the same item but with different hues, because it will disorganize the item library. However, you can change the hue/color of anything in Game Character Hub. So if you want a green skin, simply add the skin to your character. Then select the skin in the item list on the left, and click on the button to change the Hue (Ctrl + U if I remember right). Move the hue slider until your skin is green :)

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. Can't wait for the release. It looks like a great program!

I couldn't find wings, though. Perhaps something to add if you've got time. If not, I'm sure someone will. Thanks for all your work.

I love this! The only suggestion I have, to make selection of layers faster, is, when you are going through items to select, to show a preview of the individual item WITH the character you have created up to this point, so you can see how it'll look when applied, without actually having to apply it.

So when looking through ponytails, I'd like to see not just the ponytail I'm about to select, but what it will look like on the girl I've made so far. Showing the existing character in the preview is easier (faster) than finding a piece you think suitable, applying it, selecting and deleting the layer because you don't like it, and going in to add a new layer again to look at more.

I am running the demo on Windows 8. I don't have any issues with not being able to click most buttons. But to delete a layer, the delete button at the bottom and pressing the delete key on the keyboard don't work. I have to right-click the layer and choose delete from the popup menu, which works fine.

@azeonthundrake, I just downloaded today, and I can see wings for both male and female (VX characters, not XP), and I can change the skin color.

@Shaz: Thank you for your comment. This is just an AWESOME suggestion. I've spent the last hours to think of ways to do it. And I just finished programming it.

So now I'm happy to annouce that this feature is programmed. It doesn't show the whole character in the item window preview though. Instead, when an item is selected (not added, just selected), then the layer is added to the actual character, so you can see the preview of your character with the item in the main window and even in the render window where the character is walking. If you select another item in the item window, then the previously added layer is replaced by the current selection. And so on until you definitely add the item like in the old way.

Thanks again!

That sounds great! I would have been happy to have seen it in either window.

Did you update the downloadable beta with this change, or will we have to wait for the final version?

Thank you for your comments!

@Shaz: The change will be available on the next release. But if you want to ease the process that selects layers: once a layer that you don't like has been added, just click on "Undo" (in the upper toolbar) to remove it. You don't even have to close the item window.

@IXVI: Thanks!

@NoahJMina: What do you mean? It's the first time I hear such a problem, it may come from your internet connection.

Laugilus,

Great work on this software!  I find it very user friendly, and very powerful.  The zoom function is the same as the adobe standard which I am conditioned to go to right away, so that is fantastic.  I'd love to see the delete key press implemented to delete layers. I like being able to keep the item window open as well, very cool.  Thanks so much for providing us with this tool while its in beta!

Thank you for your comment! It's always very nice to hear!

As for the delete key, I'd love to see that too.. But pressing the delete key actually deletes selected pixels or cases (only the the pixels in beta if I remember right). So I think it will be confusing for the users to have it delete the layers too...

Maybe I'll implement something like Shift + Delete to delete the selected layers. I'll think about it. Nice suggestion though!

Thanks again for your comment!

You're very welcome!

I think the Shift + Delete would work well, just something quicker than the right click would be nice.

And another thought would be to categorize compatible bits together.

I noticed that the various skins, hair, eyes, clothes, etc don't match up correctly, so it would be convenient

for the user to have numbers, symbols, or letters representing compatibility of parts before adding the new layer,

finding it doesn't match and then deleting it.

I've been using this for a few days now, and I must say, it is a lovely creation.

@navmachine: I'm afraid I won't do this. It takes a lot of time and I am not sure it's a good idea. If an item doesn't fit, GCH gives you tools to make it fit. And you should use those tools instead of using only those which fit. Anyway in the next release, item selection will be way easier and faster. Thanks for your suggestion though :)

@Geekman: thanks!!

Interesting... Haven't tried it yet, but I am curious to know if it supports user made resources?

EG, Can you add custom made Ace Character generator parts to your own generator?

just got game creator hub and was wondering is there some place to make character faces for the characters u make in this? would like to have faces that match for the dialog, like using a character with a hood and mask on and have a face with those on it instead of using the face creator on vx ace which doesnt have anything like that.

@ShadowFox: Yes you can! That's actually why I was so interested in getting it, I like making my own stuff.

@Moonpig13: I think you can, you'd just need to tell the template grid to be 1 frame.

Hmm, I wonder how hard it would be to share templates and files for this. At some point I'd like to do that with some original faces and sprites I'm working on.

I think that is a great idea and would be an enormous help for those of us who are, to put it mildly, less artistically gifted

So did I. :) Well, if you open an image you'll get a dialogue box that lets you change the grid from the default 3/4 to 1/1 if you want. You can also create a new template, in the dialogue box there's a field to change the grid under the place where you name the template.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
