Is that program made by EB and will it ever be sold here in the site?

Well Degica is the publisher for it and I think they also publish rpgmaker too. Not to familiar with the developer which is Sebastien Bini. It's also for sale on Steam right now for like 10.00 a copy.

If the software performs well and lives up to its hype (as portrayed in the video I saw on the Steam site) then it will probably be an asset in my own game-making.

I'm graphically-challenged and when it comes to editing / adapting any type of image from the tiniest pixel to a large portrait, my efforts at image recombination probably has Dr. Frankenstein spinning in his grave. :)

I will continue to work on images as placeholders, but only as a reference for the real artist(s) I hope to enlist or commission in the future as my game creation improves and my experience increases.  I will keep an eye on this software and look forward to hearing feedback on this forum from members who have given it a test drive.

In the thread I linked to, you can already see feedback from forum members who have given it a test drive during the beta period.

Thanks, I missed the link.  I've just finished skimming through the beta reviews which were overall positive.  Now that the software is updated with even more features and capabilities it looks like a very useful addition to the RPG Maker toolset.

Yeah, I hope it makes it outside Steam. I love Steam but it's a little inconvient for this kind've thing.

It said that they couldn't import new parts which is weird... They said "You can also create your own custom templates and parts." in the description and creating your own parts implies that you can add them to it.

So the graphic parts aren't contained in a program folder but are rather integrated with the program's FILE instead?

I would have assumed importing graphics would be as simple as making sure they were in the right format and then adding them to the appropriate folder.

Considering one of the characters types is "Archia Type" I would hope it be available here.

Most of the images are RPG MAKER sprite images.

As for adding stuff, you probably need to physicly add them to the folders like the Ace creator.

There is an option to import your own graphics. The help file says:

This dialog enables you to import your own items into the Game Character Hub library. You may choose to import PNG images (single files(s) or whole folder(s)) which will be imported as GCHI files. You may also choose to compile (merge) several images into an item to get a more complex item: this is useful when an item must be composed of several layers.

Note that you do not need to use this dialog to import! You may simply go to the item library folder [location shown] and drop your own PNG images anywhere you want. (You will then have to refresh the library...)

I want this software but I cannot afford it at the moment. I'm glad it is available through Steam though as my bank won'[t let me buy from this site itself.

Is it easy to create your own tilesets with this? I'd really like to make a game featuring all my own art if that's possible and it sounds like this could help.

I haven't bought it myself but it looks to me like it's more for compiling existing tilesets and not so much for making them.

This isn't necessarily for CREATING tilesets, though I believe it does have the ability to do so. Its value is more in converting tilesets from one format to another (and I imagine combining elements of different tilesets into one).

If you want to create your own art for tilesets, I suspect good old Photoshop/GIMP/whatever is still the best way.

So far I'm loving it! This REALLY helps those that are pixelly-challenged. Which I guess includes me. Personally I can't wait for the community to get a hold of this. It just took making an RPG Maker game to the next level.

Yes you can. MSPaint can be used for tilesets, I don't see why GCH can't. It also has AA turn on or off.

Hmm, I was hoping I could use it to draw characters and tilesets and have it keep track of format for me without me having to jump from program to program. I'd like to create a gameboy like tileset and characters. I was kind of hoping for easier to use tools than the free programs that everyone uses.

(Psst, West_Winds, this is what I use to make tilesets.)

I'm going to have to buy this before my next spriting attempt.  All the character creation programs I've seen up until now are hard coded to certain sprite sizes and setups so I haven't been terribly interested.  From what I can see this one would be pretty easy to use to make something like side battlers or sprites with my own custom base.  Being able to edit it while the animation preview is running would be a big plus too.

Graphics Gale does the whole animating preview and custom sprite setup thing as well. I'm surprised it's not a thing in Pyxel :o

It is, I just keep forgetting that PyxelEdit has animation and I've never actually tried it out before.
