After exporting my game as a mac .app, everything works fine. However, if I compress the app into a zip file to send to people, when I unzip the file, I get the error that the app (game) is corrupted and cant be opened and should be moved to the trash.

Please help!

Thanks!

EDIT:
I should have mentioned that everything works fine when I put the game on another mac via usb drive.

EDIT:
I have found a few other threads with the same issue, but none have an answer.

EDIT:
I just tried mounting it to a .dmg file like alot of apps are nowadays and I still got the error.

...or is the best way to package a mac app just to make a windows version (with enigmaVM) and use a wrapper (wineskin/winebottler) to make it a mac app?

Thanks

no - the problem is that Mac Apps require specific file access settings that simply do not exist under Windows and can't be set on a windows computer.

And I guess that somehow your archiver destroys that setting. I also heard that one specific MacOS (one of the older ones) has a problem with RMMV Deployment - is your MacOS up to date or are you using an older one? If an older one, which one?

I've moved this thread to MV Deployment. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

I am running MV on the latest version of MacOS (via Steam). I archived it into a zip by just right clicking and then clicking compress. All built into MacOS. The thing is that if I wanted to upload the app to google drive to share with someone, Google automatically zips it up. Also, if I wanted to upload it to GameJolt or Itch.io (which I intend on doing), a zip is required. Ive tried multiple different compression formats (7z, etc) along with mounting it to a dmg or iso. None of those worked.
What can I do to combat this, and get it running properly?
Thanks

This is not good news as I too am a Mac user.  Since MV is the popular app at the moment, I hope they fix this soon.  Then again, they did promise to have a demo version for Mac for 2 years now...

After talking with a few of my testers, it seems that, oddly enough, it does work for some people and not for most people. I think it has something to do with what extractor is used to open the zip, but I could be wrong...

Thanks

Okay, so I figured it out. The problem is that because [most] MV users are not registered Apple developers, Macs mark the game as corrupted. The default setting is to not allow apps from anywhere other than the app store, or registered developers. You have to manually set it to "Apps downloaded from anywhere" under Security Preferences. This is kinda a pain, as you would have to let each user know this (maybe in an included ReadMe?), but at the moment, it's the only solution other than porting a standalone Windows version with WineSkin or similar (which I probably will try too).

Thanks

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
