Hi guys,
I've run into a little issue as when it came to making ''realistic'' weapons I had no problems with it, but I can't make any proper armor. I simply have no idea what kinds of armor would be better against slashing/piercing/crushing damage, I don't know what kinds of armor there are (I need something like 8 different base types, 4 ''light'' and 4 ''heavy'', then I just add magical stuff) and well yeah... I'm at a loss for words.
I always thought that being an RPG veteran (aka nerd ^^') who can recite the armor class of DnD items, the kinds of protection in Shadowrun and god knows what else this would be easier, but I'm just completely lost. I have no idea whether ''studded leather'' would be better than a chain mail, or whether a brigandine is better than a piece of scale armor...
Yeah, I know that I can make it all up, but I'd rather keep it somewhat logical at least without copying from DnD... copying is not cool.
So, any armor experts around here? I'd appreciate any help.
Also, how do you go around designing things like this?

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
