Saw this pinned but unsure if posting there would constitute necro-posting/if I'm experiencing a separate but similar issue. I posted the following as a comment on that thread but it hasn't been approved by a moderator yet and am not sure if it even went through. (I click submit and nothing happens, no notice it is pending or anything. If either my post or thread gets approved before the other I'm fine with mods deleting one or the other. Sorry for the noobness.)

Anyway, I'm running:

Macbook Pro Retina, Late 2013

OS 10.11.6 El Capitan

Processor: 2.4GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel Iris 1536MB

I deployed to Mac OS and then compressed the resulting file, containing both the index.html and Game, into a .zip file. Then I uploaded it to both Dropbox and G-Drive. A friend also running Mac OS (I think 10.2.something) then downloaded it via Firefox from each only to get the message:

"Game" is damged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

Has any progress been made on this issue? I've asked her to let me know the exact OS she's running and to go into her System Preferences> Security> General> and enable "Allow app downloads from anywhere" in case it's a permissions issue. Likewise I went through the deployment and game project files to make sure no special characters or spaces were being used in the file names. Underscores "_" are used in some files (i.e., SF_Actors) but that's all. I've also given her full access on Dropbox and G-Drive to both "Read & Write" shared files.

What else am I missing?

The game is meant as a gift for her so I only have interest in making it playable for her, nothing more. Can anybody help? We've both been excited about this gift and it's so close yet so far. I was up online looking up everything I could find on the subject. Any help?

Thanks

The problem is most likely what you did when creating the zip-file.

When deploying to MacOS on a windows system, you'll get a folder named game.app

That folder, in its entirety, is the program, and will be listed on Mac OS as an application and NOT as a folder. That is the difference of the operating systems.

If you get the message that the game.app is damaged, then something inside that folder was changed - most likely by the compression routine of the zip program, or when she decompressed.

Or if you manually extracted something from the folders, because you should NOT get an index.html on the output level, you should get an game.app folder and a credit.html, and the credits are only there for legal reasons (credits for the programs used by the RMMV).

EDIT:

When I go into the folders on a windows PC, I can start the index.html inside the program without error. But I also saw a folder that is not part of my usual tests with Mac-Deployment: a folder named _CodeSignature. Any Idea where that came from?

Or have her redownload it to check if something was damaged on download.

the OP isn't using Windows - he/she is using Macbook Pro.

I don't know anything about MV deployment, but it seems strange to me that you would only include Game and index.html - there should be a whole slew of other folders and files, shouldn't there?

@Shaz he didn't get game and index html - he got game.app (which contains the entire game including all resources) and credit.html (which is required by the opensource rules)
