Working on a boss fight "Barbazu - The Bearded Devil".  Essentially it's a boss that causes a bleed effect to a party member that can easily be healed by a normal heal spell.  If the bleed effect isn't healed, he casts a spell "Bloodshed" that deals damage to all heroes, but extra (massive) damage to those that have the bleed effect.  Experimenting with other things to spice up the battle, we'll see how it comes along. 

Hoping by sunday I'll have a finished boss fight product.

For now, I must rest, I am exhausted x.x;

I started to get myself in line for having something playable by the end of the GMD, and that means having that intro done with the new cut scenes in place.

 

I got the slums the way I want them now, and I have a few new things at my disposal as I look to redo parts of existing scenes, and have things with 

a bit more dramatic impact.  

 

Touched up several maps in the nexus dungeon.  Added new resources and tile set to replace the some RTP elements.  It took several tries and stupid mistakes, but I found out what to do with enough trial and error.  I kept over complicating things.  That wastes a lot of time.  And it means more time tweaking tile sets that I could spend on drawing or cut scenes.  Ugh.

 

Resource artist has been given his assignment of making a statue.  I'm currently recoloring the crystals he made.

Slow gam mak day (as far as RM goes,  work has been kind of game-driven as of late), with much scripting and more database entry work ;n;

I've been troubleshooting my brother's WordPress site for the past 3-4 hours, so that ate a bunch of RM time tonight TT... but it's the weekend! I'll try not to be lazy.

- Reviewed my laws of character balancing and fixed several "injustices" for certain characters that seemed UP at some points in the game.

- Introducted the notion of "Resting Days", inspired by Agarest War's Vacation Days; less romance, but relations between characters is worthy of attention. Every party member has relations with other party members that bolsters their performances on the battlefield if they're near each other (

instead of Agarest that for high relations, it unlocks "ecchi" artworks of ladies...
).
- Sketched more ideas for Garon Cevok and my unnamed dagger-axe party member from yesterday; still not landing on definite results...

Day 17:

Stepped away from messing with the combat system for today.  Today I started thinking up ideas for the purple district aswell as its layout.

Also did a little story work.

Day 18:

I got back some sketches today for one of my main characters Arkonis from my artist.  The way we work during the sketch phase is she draws up different ideas and outfits, and then I go in photoshop, pick parts of an outfit I like, edit colors, whatever, then I send it back to her aswell as any other ideas I get from them.  So that took about an hour or so, finding more reference photos, photoshop edits, etc.

Again, did more game judging/playing. Finished the lot and I'm gonna sleep on them before finalising my own scores. Then to hash them out with the other judges. Yay!

That aside, I finished editing the Clouded Heart videos, rendered and put them up. That took all night and half the day (I could do nothing on my computer during all that time :/ ).

Also, yay! Got a new computer screen! Well, I say new but I really mean a second hand one. It's a 22" and while that's pretty small in screen sizes, since my last 22" died I've been making do with a 15" so I am stoked. Reasonable screen sizes again! ;^;

I also touched on a little mapping today, though not enough to show anything off. Just touching up a few older maps and messing around with them. No excitement there.

last night was a very busy night (we had a party at my friend's house) so I haven't done something. I was out till this afternoon. Though I tried to do something.

I started the story of my game from scratch because of the inconsistencies it has, though the world and characters are still the same. 

I just made it halfway through the first chapter story.

I didn't get any tiles done yesterday so I totally cheated and did some sideways stairs today. Just a modification of stairs I'd done for a different set, but it was more than a simple recolor so I'm counting it. Also added texture to the fireplace mantle. Since the "have to make tiles" is a self rule I think I'm okay for a +1.

I continued putting my class idea into practice by assigning the emotions I'll be using as triggers for each one and working on making it work in game. I'm using Robert Plutchik's wheel of emotions to pick eight that attaches to an element. It helps that there are only eight, so it fits like a glove.

Here they are + an example on their activation in normal combat for those interested:

Fire - Anger: Attack boost. Activation Example - When a party member falls in battle or a low % chance if party member is attacked.

Ice - Anticipation: Critical hit % boost. Activation Example - When the player dodges or counters an attack.

Lightning - Surprise: Defense boost. Activation Example - Critical hit done to the player or when attacked from behind.

Water - Trust: Resistance boost. Activation Example - Player has their stats raised by a party member or revived.

Earth - Disgust: Physical/Magical Evasion boost. Activation Example - Player has been inflicted with a negative status effect or the enemy is healed.

Air - Sadness: Negative Status Immunity. Activation Example - low % chance if player is attacked or an attack misses.

Secular - Fear: Agility boost. Activation Example - An enemy boosts their stats or medium % chance if player is hit by a power.

Celestial - Joy: Power(Magic) boost. Activation Example - Healed by a party member when near death or cured of negative effects by party member.
Other than normal combat they can also be activated by major story events before battle. These effects last the rest of the battle. What I learned today: Unplanned things can sometimes come together as if they were created for this moment; like a guiding hand.

DAY 8 ~


Well today was mostly eventing, eventing, eventing (And a little Script Searching).

I finished up eventing on all of the XP Converted Maps (Meaning I gotta make more). I also went searching through the Master List of Ace Scripts didn't finish going through the list, I got a little over half way, after going through the ones I saw as interesting and studying them to see if they were what I might want or if I might find something better.

Beyond that I went out and picked up my Laptop (But I can't find my charger so I am very frustrated).

Rewrote the melancholy scene with Kendra walking and getting attacked to Willard and Emmet sharing an intimate moment and getting attacked.  Drawn cut scene to follow(crosses fingers).  I want to make this a very powerful moment since I was told in review it had the potential to shift the game's plot twist into focus.

 

Completely redid the Temple of Pelor map.  



 

It's 1/3 it's original size and has the original stained glass windows I used to make the template for the other church.  Added in some light effects and moved around NPCs.  I'd consider being more playful with the lighting and changing direction flipping, and lining up the saint window lights to show horizontal windows along the sides, but I've spent enough time prettying things up. I don't need to over do smaller maps with gaudy effects.

 

Play tester approved Shade's portrait design and I will be continuing on with her others to break away from her generator and edited generator portraits. It's been a long time coming.  Her line art still needs tightening.  



 

Tomorrow various silly faces and spiral glasses for Shade.

Been struggling with motivation. I cannot get settled on my maps and blah. So Ive been working on sprites still.  I think tomorrow, I need to pull out my to do list and start working through it.

Wedding quest has FINALLY been finished. That's what took up most of my day. Otherwise I looked around for some scripts, and added them to the game. Played through the entire game, making sure it's bug free so far

More script-fixing and writing today; I managed to get through some dialogue and pin down the voice for a couple of characters. (Literary voice, not auditory)

With a lot of time being devoted to troubleshooting various technical issues people were having, I didn't spend as much time as I'd hoped on RM ;n;
