Since I'm usually working from 6AM to 6PM this is my usual time for brainstorming and such. I'll try to keep up with a daily routine but it's probably more likely that I'll be doing this on Thursday nights. Sign me up for 7PM to about 2AM

Just spent today's time slot tidying a bit. Haven't touch my main project in a long while, so I got myself caught up.

Hello again.I haven't touched my main project in any meaningful way over the last few weeks/month+. What happened? No idea.

I've joined the "Game Making Drive", and have dedicated at least a half hour Monday-Friday after work to develop.

What've I done today? Caught up.

I played through what I have so far.... it isn't much. I'll be trimming [more like tearing] the game down a bit. Far too wishful. Far to grand. I'll be updating the project thread this evening with details.

I've brainstormed of fair deal, trying to decide what I want this to be. I don't want to change too much, and lose the little progress I've made... so I'll find a compromise.

I'm very much looking forward to getting back into this.

Summary of today's doings:

1. Got myself up to speed on where I am

2. Reviewed my stories

3. Got ready to start on my lock-picking mini-game.

4. Tweaked some maps

5. Started a document to keep stuff in line [which I really shoulda done way earlier]

Wednesday 24 october 2012 [Day1]

Started working at 8pm, ended at 3am. Brief stops for supper.

Project: Dead Moon Night (Halloween contest entry)

Work: Mapping and tileset edition and compilation

So…ugh, 7 hours? Holy ****, I…well…uh…I mapped the entirety of the last dungeon? (And I mean ALL OF IT, the little 15 map dungeon *****).

Ahaha, by the way, it’s an entirely custom tileset, so yeah, those are all compiled into a sheet especially for the ocasion. I think I’ve commented before on how much I despise compiling tilesets, so…yeah. Seven hours, huh? Sounds about right. (Bastard tiles)

What can I say…Portraying a feeling of depth in rtp? SUCKS.

Mapping castles without making them “human and normal”? SUUUCKS.

Boxes, urns, barrels. And more boxes. And…stuff. I don’t even. :/

Mapping “living places” as DUNGEONS is a freaking pain, if you ask me. I’ll wilderness any day. Wildernes has no rules, if plants grow on the darn wallas, no one is gonna complain. People living in castles? If they start seeing poisonous mushrooms growing in the kitchen that **** ain’t gonna stay there. (Unless it’s a very specific brand of careless/filthy place).

(Btw I dunno how this goes, but I’ve been working more or less everyday on the project lately? Am I supposed to say this? More importantly, will anyone care…? (I doubt it but ehhhh)).

I soooooo need to do this! I am working for so many people on so many games (and non-game stuff) that hours spent on my own game are few and far between. And when I DO have time, I procrastinate. So, time to be accountable, and as long as others are doing it too, it's not so scary.

It will likely change as I get into the routine, but I will initially commit 12pm-2pm Monday to Friday.

Captain's Log Stardate: Now (10-23-12)

I started working on my project's script, and decided to change the original title to something interesting after a brain spark bursted through my brain. I had also fixed up the story a bit so that once this project is done it links with many other future ideas and projects to come. After that I continued working on some of the maps taking in ideas from other games, tv shows, and what I saw on animal planet currently...the database tab glared at me as if it were speaking to my soul "Click Me @-@" it said and I responded "later". Saving my progress about 5 times to make sure it got it all I then at the tab once more and decided to call it a night.

Delsh out.

Damn, too bad the game I'm working on technically cannot be released (due to using 2k era musics converted to .ogg. I'm remaking my very first game for practice.)

I guess I can work a half hour or so on a script each day since I've been damn lazy about releasing/polishing the last few. If that's okay, sign me up for noon each day and midnight on weekends?

OK, I will try to be a little more in-depth, Archeia, although to be fair right now I'm in debugging which is not the most exciting thing to talk about (or do). Maybe I'll just mention the areas covered. :)

Update for Wednesday 10/24/12.



I spent from about 1:30 to 5:30AM on this one map. It is a 60x60 map, too. The map isn't even finished yet. Well, events remain from the previous version of the game. This thing has so many layers in Paint Shop Pro that it may as well be an onion.



The southeastern path leads to the town of Lakeland's port, northeastern path to the Spiral Mountains (yes, they spiral around), and western and southwestern paths lead to different parts of the same area. It is also possible to go northwest, but the monsters will be tougher. Cliffs and waterfalls will be added to the northern portion of the map, perhaps tomorrow at this time? The church is going to be up on a hill just before the path to the Spiral Mountains. I'm wondering if I should remove the outline of the trees, or add an outline to the road.

~Today's update~

Short notes version? I got sidetracked by birthday, contests and One Piece - among other things. But hey, at least I had fun~

Full version for the lazy.

So I tried to work some more on Forest Map Madness. I didn't really get as much done as I'd have liked. Mostly because of distractions (birthday and irc) and secondly because I was setting up the second round of the Map Guess Minigame. I had meant to get most of the mapping out of the way and make a start on the actual eventing, though that plan fell through.Of course, I did get a few things done. I fixed up some errors I found in the current maps, which is always a good thing. I also managed to map two maps, though one was more an edited map. I'll really have to start piecing things together a bit faster if I want to make the deadline. Hm... I also made a list of what items I needed (I'm only half-way through that, though) and started finding sprites for them for the menu. I also began eventing one of the sidequests and sorted out how the introduction will play out.

Then I got distracted by the new One Piece chapter... ^.^;

That said, I did get more done than I thought I would today, considering I was going to take a break for my birthday, but I decided to stick with it and try to get something done at least. Yeah, so that was today.

Tomorrow I aim to get more mapping out of the way as well as eventing the Introduction fully. That's a pretty large chunk, considering the rest of the game will not have much story (seeing as it's an adventure/exploration game at heart). We'll see how that pans out, though.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
