Wow, that map must've take some time to make! The trees would seem to be just minorly more detailed than the characters and the objects, and there's apparently some higher trees in the background unseen based on the shadows. It certainly would be interesting to test something like this, or see some moving image about the character animations, to get a feel of the gameplay and how well the grids are working.
All in all, looks like pretty professional stuff. Did you draw everything from the scratch or are there some external resources in this one?

Yes, I draw everything from the scratch. I'm so proud of myself. *Hug myself*

Been a while since I posted in here, but I don't do maps very often. Looking for some feedback on a forest map I made. The idea is to have the player never be able see the edges of the map, so they never know which parts are accessible and which are not, which is the reason for some decorated areas near the edges (top rows aren't visible to player, lol).

Guys, should I use the bigger version of my throne room or the smaller? While I know the bigger has a lot of "wasted space," I still can't decide which one I like more. (Don't worry I fixed the steps in the smaller version)

@SOC I'd say the smaller version, it's easier to defend in case of invasion.

I think the smaller version looks better. The other one just has too many pillars... Though imo it's a little bit too small. Maybe add a space between the guards and the carpet, like this:
and/or maybe add another 3 spaces to the height (another pillar basically).

Thanks for the feedback! So something like this, then?

@SOC As far as RTP maps go, that is pretty nice. Though you should use shift click mapping on the rug behind the wall that is behind the throne.

With shift click mapping you can make it look like this instead...

@SOC I think that hanging pictures and banners on curtains doesn't work. How do you get the curtains behind them? Do you have holes made in them for the hanging nail to stick out? Plus their visual impact is reduced as there is less contrast than if they were on the otherwise not very interesting grey walls.

Do you have side tables that are a bit more elaborate in style than the ordinary plain wooden ones? They don't really give the aura of power/importance that a throne room should have.

I'm trying to dodge the several attacks that I got from normal map at PIXI but well... xD it is pretty hard to do it ahuahua

I'm trying to create something cool, using PIXI Lights (thanks @Jonforum ), well... there is some stuff off in the map below, as the 'bold black point', but it is from normal map.

Well, this is in-game:

A few images from my DQ-inspired game.

Throne Room with your Mother, the Queen <3

Create a party of different classes. Gender only affects certain equipment and some minor secret areas.

@Ksi I like the hero selection screen.
A couple of things to say:
What's the difference between the two staves (blue background icons)? One looks magical (can cast spells?), the other plain (good old smash on the head?). Is that it?
And I like when there's a default name. I never know how to name my characters...

I'm working together with a very talented artist (check out clivenzu) to add portraits to my game called Numina. She just finished working on Shawn, the main char Shawn who can talk to the player through the 4th wall:

(the screen is from the German version of the game, he asks: "Who are you?")

I've been experimenting a lot with the sizes of the portraits, placing on the screen and so on. Sometimes it's really difficult not to obscure too much of the scenery in the back.

The different weapons are coloured based on the damage they do. Piercing for the first row, Bludgeoning for the second, Slashing for the third and Magical for the fourth (Katanas, the fifth, are special weapons). Each weapon in a grouping has different aspects/features. In the magical ones (from the top), Wands give a boost to healing arts, Staffs boost affliction application. Tomes give a boost to elemental magic and rings are both long-range weapons and a general boost in all magic areas (though not as high as other more specific-boosting weapons).

Of the four staffs do more physical damage, wands are more likely to have extra effects (like sapping MP), Tomes are elementally inclined and Rings can't be blocked. They all have their uses, depending on what you make your party up of and what spells you teach them (yes, most spells are teachable).

Sorry Aerith... I will abandon your shoes... :guffaw:
Spent a whole bunch of time today reworking the area in the video because someone said it was too illusory. So I reworked it so it changes less, moved the grass up to the same level as the player.... And found enough extra resources to make the grass moves when the player touches it. Also lots more water, because it looks amazing. I'll probably put up a short updated video later today.
I never noticed how NOISY birds can be in the morning..
The worst part of writing the thesis is getting to a point where it's nearly done and you feel like an 8th-grader could've written something on that level.
So ... uh ... this weekend I have to cut my husband's hair. He searched long and hard - highest mountains, deepest valleys, across vast oceans. All hairdressers are now closed. So it's me.
