    @Phenax Ahh, that video was pretty much what I meant by less boxy. Just making the overall shape of the map not square like the one in the video is a pretty big difference already. :)

    The problem with the filter is that it’s hard controlling the shading, it sort of looks ugly and you can’t differntiate skin tone or small differences in color but It’s also consistent and helps in forcing the lighting effects and compass to work with the rest of the graphics.

    @CrowStorm
    Thanks, just between us the clouds are ripped from dragon warriors title. I might have to make my own clouds but I really like how the title looks just like that.

    @Dama
    More colors is nice but it might break the whole 8bit theme, I think it looks more SNES like with the colors. My only issue is the lighting and semi transparent menu, there a bit too smooth for an 8bit retro look.

    However majority rules, so no filter it is. Thanks for your feedback!

    So now that I've got some time off over Christmas I'm back to working on my project (which is slowly just turning into a demo for what's becoming an RTP's worth of custom tiles). With that in mind I've finally finished this small library map.
    upload_2018-12-19_15-33-55.png
    Pay no attention to anything that's there from the RTP, it's just there as a placeholder while I'm drawing tiles to replace it.
    I'm not entirely sure that my bookshelves are diverse enough or that the library really looks as destroyed as I'd like it to be, so any thoughts are appreciated. :)

    @shadefoundry I really like the custom tiles and the map overall. I could imagine that the library would look more destroyed if the books on the ground shared the colour of the books in the bookshelf. And maybe a little less books overall inside the bookshelves to make them seem more destroyed alongside with those on the ground. You seem to have lamps, I personally prefer not to have the standard shadows on the left side in that case. It could be me but I'm having a bit of a hard time imagening the elevation which the stairs suggest. Possibly adding railing could work, not sure though. It's an overall good map though and I'm sure it will look amazing once finished, especially if you add lighting.

    @Weremole Oh my he reminds me of Thundercats (anyone remember that 80's cartoon?) like 'm though :)

    @Emanzi I personally prefer the normal filter.

    @shadefoundry I would prefer some more variation in book colors... easy enough to do (just more work lol). I also agree with Phenax on the points made. Plus, if you're going for a 'ruined' look: why not have one of the bookcases fallen over?

    @Phenax @Finnuval Thank you both! I've taken some time to add some additional tiles and details to hopefully get across the ruined library look I'm trying for a bit better.

    I'm not sure if removing the shadows from the stairs was the right decision, but the elevation does feel a bit more clear. I'll probably keep the shadows by the walls for now though at least until I decide on how I want to handle lighting. As for a fallen over bookcase, it'd be nice to have one on the left near the entrance, but I'm a terrible artist who struggles with perspective so it'll probably take me a while to do that. :p

    @shadefoundry I like this better however :I think the clutter on the floor is A bit to much, spread it out A bit more? Also the bookcases are great but you used 2 versions and that immediatly is vissible (to me anyway) add one more to prevent that duplicated feeling perhaps?
    As for the toppled bookcase I would place one in the left top corner, not to hard perspective wise too :)

    @Zanfall: That looks phenomenal. Reminds me a lot of Life is Strange, actually.
    @shadefoundry: Much better, definitely gets across that ruined vibe.
    @Hmichelle: What Finnuval said. Otherwise, looks fine.

    Made a new battle background.

    @Lorenze I like the visual but the color isn't 'popping' enough imo (of that makes any sense) especially compared to earlier posts you made

    @Finnuval: Gotcha; do you mean the color itself or the intensity of it?

    @lorenzo Intensity is too low, imo but not sure on the color itself either if I'm honest. Especially the darker part of the gradient

    The rooms at the bottom need to have two wall high doors, not one tile high ones. They need to match with the rest of the walls that touch that ceiling tile else they'd be floating in mid-air which would be weird beyond belief. Basic rule of thumb - if you have a wall that is a certain amount of tiles high and then have another wall that is touching the same floor and ceiling as the first one, they need to be the same height else there's going to be issues.

    Been experimenting with turning a map I had no use for into the title screen of the game, thoughts?

    @Finnuval by normal filter do you mean the true color one with more color?

    Anyway Im trying out something different with some resources I found on open game art by cabbit
    (https://opengameart.org/users/cabbit)
    and the retro pack by the unpropro
    (https://theunpropro.itch.io/rmmv-retro)

    I think it works well with the retro tiles pack but 2k3 rtp resized has more content (ship tiles specifically).

    Retro Pack

    2k3 RTP

    No filter this time, I might save that for something else.
