Please read and abide by these rules before posting and or commenting:

  1. In-game screenshots, maps and videos of gameplay are all welcome. Trailers are also welcome. Walkthroughs and Let's Plays are not. They go here.
  2. Please place your image in spoiler tags if it's any larger than 500x500. Ditto if you're posting a lot of images.
  3. Do not quote screenshots, maps or videos in this thread. If you want to comment on someone's screenshot, please refer to them by their name (@membername), or keep the image in spoiler tags.
  4. Please be civil and constructive when handing out feedback. Do not post things such as 'this sucks!'. Point out why a map doesn't look so good, and what they can do to improve it. If you want to compliment someone, point out what you think they did well.
  5. Please refrain from re-posting your work, unless you've made some edits on it since the last time you posted it. If no one has commented on your work, and it has fallen behind by at least 2 pages, feel free to repost it then. You can re-post your screenshot if you posted in the last several pages of the previous thread.
  6. Feel free to ask what tileset someone is using if you're interested, but keep off-topic chatter to a minimum.

To kick off the thread, I might as well release this from its quarantine over in the PVGames subforum and post it here. I made an inn. The image is divided into sections that each display a level of the building. There are some flaws here and there, but this was my first big project piece using the new PVGame's 2.5D resources, which I have been unable to put down since I got my hands on them.

Okay, so I'm not a great mapper (I'm more of a coder and a composer), but here's two maps I think worked out okay.

First off, here's an exterior map:

Next is an interior map. I'm not as good with interior maps as with exterior maps, but here it is:

And finally RL has eased up enough for me to get back to my project a bit.
Here's the first draft of the next town - no NPCs or lighting yet, and more odds and ends to add, so a bit bare bones. The side and top entrances to houses are shown by the different ground tile.
Doing roofs with patterned tiles is not for the faint-hearted. It was bad enough doing the ordinary A3 autotiles. Doing the slanted roofs was a nightmare.

@MushroomCake28 : Your interior map feels a little too big for me. I think if you were to drop the width of each room by 1 - 2 tiles it would improve it a long ways.

@Kes : The height of the side wall feels off to me. I know what you are going for but it might be better to make that one tall wall instead.

@bgillisp You're right. If I make the wall 6 high on the riverbank I can then have a straight run. Thanks.

@MushroomCake28 Your exterior map is great, that's how we should make a map with the default assets, but I think your interior map is way too big.

@dsiver144 Amazing maps and tilesets. Feels like Earthbound, but in HD. :D

@Kes That's a solid town, and it's a very neat tileset too. Seems like a capital city to me. I like the horse stable in the top left part.

Please, feel free to point out any mistake in the map so I could learn and make it better~

Imo you should either remove a bunch of the trees or cluster them together more. Also add smaller trees, and maybe some rocks and bushes. The ground feels very flat, besides the giant trees.
I love what youve done with the grass though. Looks really nice.
Dunno how I feel about the lighting... Is it supposed to feel like late evening? When the sun is almost completely set? Cause that's what I'm getting. (Or super early dawn I guess.)

@Constance I think there is contradictory visual clues about what time of year it is. Some of those trees have leaves which are beginning to change colour, indicating early autumn [fall]. Some are light green indicating spring, and some darker green suggesting high summer. I think you're going to have to pick one and stick with it.

I echo Ellisiaro's comment about the need for other types of variation.

Finally, you have a bridge - presumably put there for current use, as it doesn't look derelict. But that's the bit where you have made the trees closer together, and where one end of the bridge rests on longer vegetation with no trace of a path. So again it's contradictory visual clues.

Oh oh thankies, I'll get to work on that in a moment... As for the tree variation, I have a hard time finding a tree tileset with similiar style... I entirely forgot about rock and bushes haha..

Maybe I'll put some moss on the bridge and slight variation in color for some of the part to integrate it more with the forest... I'll work on the tree color later on...

And yes that is when the sun is almost set.. Just because I'm too lazy to make a different kind of lighting..

Thanks for the feedback~!

Iirc doesn't Pandamaru, who's trees you're using, have smaller trees in that style as well? I'm pretty sure she does, maybe bigger too.

Oh.. Somehow it just felt that those tree are a bit too small for me... Maybe because I am using tall sprites? Well, I'll try and see what I can do with it.. Thanks again~

Hey everyone I just got RMMV a few days ago and I spent today working on a little cutscene. Its not anything specific but the cutscene is kinda finished. Its using only the default stuff that comes with RMMV and nothing else other than a few characters that I generated with the randomizer. I was curious to hear what you guys think about it and to get some feedback on it. I was hoping to make a series or at the least a complete story using just cutscenes and I feel like I am on the right track but that I could also do more to enhance it. I still dont understand everything about how RMMV works or tried any plug-ins but this is my first attempt to ever try something like this. With that said please be as critical as you like, even the worst feedback is as helpful as the best kind :)

@XxSYOxTOSxX I have merged this with the Game & Map Screenshots, which is for giving feedback on things like this.

I would suggest that you post your map specifically for feedback as there are a lot of errors in it which you will need to understand in order to avoid doing them again. However, it is difficult to give the necessary advice from a video. A screenshot of the map is a lot easier for people to comment on.

I woke up a touch early and was going to draw by the fireplace until it’s a more appropriate noise-making time, but I left my stylus AND my glasses (WHAT?!) upstairs and it’s just too cold to get out of the blanket now.
Made some simple samples with the Time Reversal Mechanic. It would be interesting to make a bigger puzzle where you could dynamically choose which elements are affected by the time reverse. But if there's much more than move routes and waits, it's starts to get too annoying for my brain :D Like even that exploding bomb was such a bother.
Question: How do you sort your tilesets? Do you prefer to have "A2" or "B" or "A4" at the front of the name or what the map is about and then what it is?
Example 1: A2_ForestTown
Example 2: ForestTown_A2
Today I realized taking 1000 x 1000 px image and turning it into a 96 x 96 portrait looks... bad
Well... some good news from Kanori, actually... My interest in getting into aviation has been reignited by a wonderful story of a 14 year girl who made a cross country journey in an ultralight aircraft. Too many details to list, but the gist is I don't need to go through $15,000 worth of training to fly such an aircraft. I will need to thank her if I ever meet her at any airshows, etc. :)
