Hello! I just got RMMV recently and last night I finished making my first completed town map. Since this is my first attempt, I'm sure there's lots of room for improvement, and I would much appreciate some advice. I feel like my use of space is inefficient and I'm not quite sure what I could do to improve it.

as you build you map, you might add, remove, add remove alot of things to make it fit nicer,
once you have a nice looking part, you want it bit different again (I know, its time consuming)
but the result counts in the end of it.

Just take your time, draw things out, make some copies, and redo things when fit and until
you are happy about it.

Keep up the nice map working.
I'm also curious which castle tiles you used (So I can adjust my own roof set for more ways)
while in parallax can be many ways for it. and editor a bit limited, but didn't contiue the update
because to busy on this side at the moment. but I hope somewhere in march to update it on the web.
https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/rpg-maker-mv-tileset/fantastic-buildings-medieval this is the tileset for this castle, currently only $2, so its a pretty good buy,
i get into ways sometimes were asking what others thing helps me make up my mind, though funny how its not the answer most of the time, its just the act of asking able to think in 3ed person kind of,
thank you though, input makes my day, and makes me want to work harder lol

Mapped out both floors of my inn here:

Working on something new to try and fill a creative void I've been dealing with lately; this is just the first area, and trust me it looks nicer with the proper lighting and effects in-game ^^;

The few monster sprites you see spark encounters (So no randos, you can avoid what you want) Any thoughts or opinions or anything would be grand!

@HotAndColdAF The beds on the ground floor look really weird. Why are they placed there? It looks like it's one open room where everyone can come in. If it's meant to be a seperate room from the reception, then that's not clear right now. I'd personally also seperate the kitchen from the dining room, as I doubt the cook(s) would enjoy having guests in tke kitchen while they're trying to cook.
As for the upper floor, the inn rooms themselves look pretty empty. I'd either add some more stuff (carpet would fill up the room as well) or make the rooms a bit smaller. The vanity cabinets would look better against the wall. The room with the sheets is missing walls, so it looks like the sheets are on the roof?

Hope this helps. ^^

My thinking was that those four beds represented the actual inn part for party use, while the rooms upstairs actually belong to the family that runs the inn.

As for the vanities, they look like this when I put them directly against the wall:

which looks wrong to me. If it was two half-tiles like windows are, the positioning would probably be perfect, but as it is, I'd rather have it a tile down than melting into the wall like this.

Adding carpets is a good suggestion and you're absolutely correct about the linen closet lacking walls and looking weird, thank you.

Hi. There are few screens from my fresh project with a prototypical name "Game1". I still think about best name, because I have currently few ideas for it.

This forest maybe looks boring, but most of the action will take place between the trees (secret parts of the forest) and underground (many tunnels, basement complex, spider lairs and one crypt). Here lives Dark Elves (?) race with their own, secretive culture.

map2-firstvillage.png
Correlated with main plot, there is a plan to build more similar places.
Player can explore it after around 2 hours of playing.
I tried to add more variety here, becuase I want to make that "abandoned" vibe.
scr3-abandonedculture.png
Old and stinky pub at corner of the continent, where no one (except pirates and local thieves) goes. You can rest here, obviously for price of "last penny", get some contracts from suspicious guys or buy something from black market.
I'm planning to make this place more obscure.
scr4-capelastpenny.png
Here comes plot about adventurers (from the tents located upper from hut) who suddenly disappeared. Player has to find them and get more informations about this creepy place.
Yes, Baba Yaga probably will be (that's my actual concept) dark-elvish demoness.
scr5-babayagahouse.png
I prefer to make 256x256 maps with 64x64 grid first, and later divide it into smaller 64x64 maps - everything for better clarity of whole game world.
scr6-map.png

About low floral variety - after stage of world building, I will add events with collecting system, so you could find many types of plants to pick up, like flowers, herbs etc)

Some criticism and opinions from you will be welcomed.

I needed a way to add objects (i.e. doodads) to my parallax maps, but I'm allergic to dev-ing with keyboard-only controls, so I've been working on this for my game:

@Vandriette It's nice to see an isometric view from time to time :)
Are these cables on the ground?
I wonder how they go through the wall and the door.

New game map and sprite~
I like the atmosphere on this. Cute style too. Only thing is the cables(?). They seem to go nowhere and just top at the wall instead of going through them/into them.

@HotAndColdAF I know it's a few days late, but I've just seen the mini discussion about the placement of your furniture against walls. You're right, having them stuck on the wall makes them look ludicrous. However, there is another, and much better, option to having them out in the middle of the floor, and that is to re-arrange your tileset so that the cupboard is half a tile down, then when you place them it looks sensible. Here is an example from my own project, showing beds and furniture against the walls. Sorry if it's a bit blurred, I used the snipping tool rather than taking a proper screenshot. And yes, the player walks under the ceiling tiles to get into the rooms.

Well, here comes screen of my first attempt to do interesting desert biome by using only RTP.
There are few huts, two temple entrances, some caves and forest located north from desert.

Obviously I do experiments with smaller map size (17x13), and I change model from one large project to few, small projects - just because it's easier to make universe more consistent and making details is less tiring.

As previously, some words of criticism would be appreciated. Thanks.

As a beginner, I'm a little hesitant to go about messing with the tilesets just yet, but I'll keep that in mind for the future, thank you.

Been working alot more lately so haven't had alot of time to advance my game, but damn if trying to make a Forest-y Castle that I actually LIKE didn't take an eternity. This is what I've got so far.
Foresta Castle.png

Also working on a town (There will be two) for the Foresta Continent as well. And yes, if you caught that name, there will be a Water/Fire/Wind styled area as well. I'm a sucker for the classics ^^;

Hi. I did some progress, because I finished main map and it's time to make internal locations, so here comes pack of new screenshots with description.

Location binded with two stories - as the name shows, some people whispers that the local band of robbers hides somewhere in this complex cave system. Unfortunately, nobody is capable to do an expedition cause of many tunnels and a lot of dangerous Diggers, Scorpions and Er'Thon Bats. They must have another entry to this cave, but where it is? Nobody knows.

There are also stories that long time ago, the group of old demons' cultists lived there. Legends says that they summoned dark powers of chaos. But... that's only a legend?
mountainbanditlair.png

This place was developed around few years ago, when the local miners during their job (mining coal and stone) found mysterious ore, that decreases temperature of everything who contacts with it. That's strange, but after around week the mysterious ones visited our village and ordered this stone for huge amount of money. From that day we get richer and richer.

But there is one thing, that takes my mind... why they need so much of that thing? They call it "froststone", that's only information I got from them. You are not known there. Try to talk with one of them, he sits in our Tavern and he is always drunk. Maybe after sponsoring him a shot his tongue would blunder something more interesting?
froststonemine1.png
froststonemin2.png
Our miners found something new! This is a room filled with Frostone, but there is something more curiosal. Come with me, I will show you...
Do you see this tombstone? Something is written there, it looks like some kind of ancient language.
I don't know what to do with this. Maybe Master Azuro would help us, but of course, he is gone.

...

I have to stop this mining industry! Some time ago group of the scary monsters appeared there and I see that theirs' motives are neither friendly nor somewhat aggressive. They freeze everything that will come inside, but they don't want to go outside - probably because they act in defensive manner.

I don't want to ask you for help again, but I don't have choice. Soon the escort of these rich guys will come here for dose of Froststone and who knows what will happen when they will don't get enought amount. They looks like a people that could rip your throat immidiately.

I feel that is connected with this strange tombstone. You should check it fast.
