@Mr Big T: I think you should not use the ceiling tiles like that and instead use wall tiles around the door area to make it look better. It looks now as if the door is laying flat across the ceiling.
Ceiling tiles? But those are wall tiles.

@Lunarea - looks really nice.  However, and this is just my personal feeling, I wouldn't like to be the person who sleeps in the top-left bedroom as anyone going to and from the bottom-left bedroom would be walking through my room and probably waking me up. :)

I actually need an honest opinion on something for a change.

I'm working on graphics for a game i am working on.. most of the game uses frankenspriting.

But i have this village and forest tileset i'm working on.

And i am just not sure about the trees and bridges i'm using.

it started out as a simple Final Fantasy Mystic Quest clone.. but has slowly evolved.

I just dunno about the bridges and trees i'm using.. i already plan to change out the house tiles.

See?

I just don't know for sure, i need a second opinion, i was either going to recolor the trees to blend better, or just replace them totally.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Everybody loves a good flashback, right? Since I don't have the luxury of zoom and don't feel like making giant sprites for up-close-and-personal crap, I used the black overlay to focus the scene. Probably won't look exactly the same in RM since GIMP has some insane layer modes and I think the 'dark' overlay is set on something like Burn. Still have to add rain.

@MikePJr : i'd post your tileset in WIP.... better place for tiles feedback but... your grass looks nice, but it doesn't quite tile perfectly... looks a tad like it has horizontal lines in it, but that should be a small fix.  I like the big trees but they're way more saturated than the rest of your tileset, also the base needs more contrast, the small trees look like something that should be used in an overworld map though, they're way smaller than the other trees. Look forward to seeing more :)

What's WIP?

I was trying to avoid actually posting the actual tileset....

Anyhow.. i will just replace the trees.. thanks.. that's all i needed feedback on.

The small trees are actually from Final Fantasy Mystic quest.. they're not from an over world map tile set.

All they are, are small tress you knock down in some areas to make paths.

Think.. small pine tree you can easily chop down.

Way more saturated... i'm guessing you're saying they're way more vivid.

As for the grass... i like the grass, i don't see the lines you speak of at all.. and i don't mean to sound like a jerk.. but i did not really need feed back on the grass... thanks though.

Okay.. so yeah..

Trees need replaced.. or made less vivid... less bright.

So where DO you post stuff like this for feedback then?

This place is for showing off/receiving feedback on your maps, the resource WIP thread is for feedback on things like tilesets, titles, ect..

@Luchino:

The only thing that really stands out to me is the far upper east bridge, it just opens up into grass, it's not walled off like the west side is, I'd match that up.

@Lunarea:

This is just personal preference, but when I make forest towns with the DS tiles I like to imagine why the building would be built or placed where/how it was, and I think a house raised off the ground would help prevent pest invasions, so my only bit of advice I would think to give would be to use the platform/stairs piece in front of your front door with the balcony. Also, your interior shot your kitchen area seems like there is a real disconnect, at least for me, from the rest of the house because you've had the wood walls transition into stone, but still have wood flooring all around. When I see it it looks like two rooms were cut in half and merged together. I would think of remodeling the kitchen(har har) and make it all stone or all wood. Probably the first though being as how it looks like your custom stove have a stone base to it.

@MikePjr: I actually really like those graphics. Most of it does seem to blend well, and if I were you I would keep the house tiles the way they are (From the little bit that's visible in that shot I think it looks nice), but yes I do think the trees should be just a tiny bit darker. Same with the bridges. But you've got the start of a really nice tileset there, do you plan to release it on the forums or just use it for your game?

@Luchino: Let me know when that is ready for a project thread... :dizzy:

Looks great! I really like the tiles you clumped together, it makes it look really great! :D Is the map parallaxed? :p

@Strawberrii
That looks good :3 I would just fill the top right and bottom left areas with a cactus or two :)

@Luchino

And it shows you mapped that long! The tint at the second image looks great and I really like the windowskin you're using :p

@Vanitas
Wow that looks pretty cool, the top parts of the pillar pop out a bit too much though, I would maybe desaturate it a bit ;)

@MikePjr
I agree with CosmicKitty, you should probably post in the Resource WIP thread if you want more specific feedback on the tiles,Here's the thread she was talking about.

I finally stopped playing Animal Crossing to make a map XD I haven't worked with the DS resource pack in a while so if there's any error(which I think there will be >.<) please tell me XD Do you guys think I should keep the lake/river? I would really like to incorporate it somehow...

I wonder how you can get to that treasure ;)

@Strawberri:

I like it! You should maybe layer some buildings on top of each other so they look like they have multiple floors.

@Aceri:

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably play around a bit before I get to the final version. :)

@Choco:

Nope, not parallaxed. It's all editor mapping. :D

To all the people that post screen shots of an entire map. I do not know how much of the map I see ingame. Also it does not matter how nice a map looks as a whole, what only counts is how it looks ingame.

@Chrome:

The purpose of showing a full map screenshot is to get feedback as to per say if something looks out of place, something is overlooked, ect..

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
