I did but it stays in the top left corner. Does that make...logical sense? That it doesn't scroll with the map?

@WNx Unrelated, what's up with that treeline? Trees generally don't tend to look good if they're all different sizes like that. Some of them don't even have trunks. I'd suggest making all the trees the same height, and perhaps vary the treeline so it's not a completely straight line.

I have never been a huge fan of the lighting/shade effect, to be honest, only when done tastefully.

In this tutorial, the main image is overlaid with a kind of "light falling" overlay. I think that would suit the current setting you have, because overlays such as the one you're using tend to obscure important details rather than make it more atmospheric like it aims to.

@Erojiji Bloody fantastic. I'd like to see how a character looks running around in it, since that's what's usually the problem with parallax maps, is that the character becomes too detached from the background it seems to be running on.

I agree with the trees without trunks... I'm normally fine with the shorter trees... though I'd agree that it doesn't look really nice here... maybe since those are treelines and not normal trees...

is that the character becomes too detached from the background it seems to be running on.
I was actually trying to achieve that effect before... as in I don't want my character to "blend" into the background... XD and I'm curious as how his would like...

@WNxTyr4el, yep that's is parallax map, thanks.

@thatbennyguy, thanks, yeah the charset still need some tweak to make it blend with the map, I still worked with it.

here the sample of charset on the different map.

@Ethaion, it's parallax.

@adiktuzmiko, more wet? I see, I will try it later then.

RMMV
@Indrah, incredible and an inspiration to all of us.  :D

@Luchino, seriously man, your maps make my jaw drop and almost make me want to stop mapping due to mine not being anywhere near that caliber.  :p

@WNx, the bottom left of your map. Those shelves are intended to be placed on a wall, not on the floor (post #1265). Your lighting and overlays are getting better (post #1289).  :)

@Erojiji, very nice man. I like it a lot.

@erojiji - really smooth animation, somewhere around 8 frames?  Only feedback I'd have is that the knees seem to bow out some on a frame.  Really nice tiles too, I'm not usually a fan of the 3D stuff, but I like the cartoony feel yours seems to have.

I carried the lighting effects from the beginning map to this one.  Includes an evented tint and a fog overlay with tinting options to force a blue-ish tint.  I think it actually looks good.  What do you guys think?

IMO, I think it would have been better to use cloud shadow overlay on this one instead of leaves...

though, it quite looks good IMO... but I'm really quite easy to please... hahahaha...

So I've returned to my first project, after taking a break from my second - and decided to rework almost everything in it. Having improved a lot of my work methods I just didn't feel it was up my current standard.

Started by fixing the battle system.

Now it's more or less a complete FFX system, with in battle character swaps and predicted turn system.

And here is the remade intro scene map

@cosmickitty, Thanks =w=

yep it's 8 frame, it's still prototype so I will change the knee later, thanks for the notice.

@hian

The scene map look fantastic, but maybe you need to place the tree more random? The one on the left side look to straight.

Thanks a lot! I thought about it, but seeing as how this is a human-made road, I thought I'd just let it go. It's not like it takes that long to edit, but I had a long day. The map was the last thing I did after basically scrapping and redesigning virtually the entire game, so I just kinda let it slide. If a lot of people pick up on it, I'll definitely revisit the map though and touch up on it.

@Shin - you really oughta move some stuff around, that top left corner is hella hectic.

@Hian Neat parallax..but may I ask why the facesets are, like glowing or over-saturated? Just seems a tad weird to me is all~ :3

@Shin There's always so much going on in your screens, lol..sometimes less is better. :)

Another one from me; just a small room within Gestalt Castle used by the main character.

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
