@Luchino I find the first screenshot is (as in too intense) for my eyes, I would recommend playing around with the tint there. The second is fine. Those are two beautiful maps, otherwise.

@Luchino

The blue light from the 2 braziers spills onto the tops of the ceiling tiles instead of being cut off by them.  I also find them (plus the green light) a bit too intense.  I think the whole map needs to be 'softened' (for want of a better word) a bit.  The second one is excellent.

@Luchino The tints are fine, but the colored lights are too diluted because of it. Hmm...

In case anyone missed the status update~

Here's a public service announcement by your local NPC service provider.

Are you worried that the heroes are finally heading to your town? You thought you were too far off of the main storyline for them to find you didn't you? Fear not! We've provided here a list of things to do so that you won't be victimized.
Please take heed, and watch out for those heroes!

So ... this is the world map for Vermilion. This is its sixth incarnation and I think I'm happy with it this time—finally! I might put some patches of differently-coloured grass or something, I dunno. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

@A-Moonless-Night looks great!  Just one question - why is there a castle on the beach?

@WNxTyr4el, nice try for a first one.
Although, what is the light source for the table area ? You could add a lamp or something on it.

Also, your furnitures seem a little stuck inside the wall. They do not have depth at their base.

@A-Moonless-Night : beautiful map !
I don't know if it's the image or not, but it looks like there is a little offset of the beach inside the north river area.

Thanks cabfe!  There's a window outside around that location that would give off that light on the inside.  Just can't see the window once inside.  xD

@WNxTyr4el: (I wish you had an easier name, haha) The castle is meant to represent the capital city, which has a castle ... it's supposed to have a port as part of it, which is why I put it close to the sea. I really hate the icon, though, and I'm wondering if I should just frankensprite my own.

@cabfe: I think it's the tiles I used; there were no smooth bends. I painstakingly made those rivers by the mighty powers of copy+paste and it took me, like, a day, and I don't want to remake them, haha.

The map looks great, and it will look even better with a custom tile castle/fort port.

Lightened the overlay and did a tint adjustment. Its not so intense now. Thanks for the feedback, guys. =)

So some people requested I show of my new map in-game, and that's what I'm going to do.

I'm half-way through the intro now, since I restarted my original project. So far, things are shaping up to be much better than they originally were.

This time around, the intro is action packed from the second you start, with a strong track running in the background, war ambiance,

and a couple of battles in the very first minute of having pressed new game.

One of the first battles. Showing off my custom casting animations. Since both characters haven't been introduced by this point, and are wearing masks, I've faded out their face graphics and added a "?" for effect. I'm not sure whether I'm pleased with it or not, but it works better than I expected.

And the top of the map. As the scene finishes, the screen smoothly(thanks to the smooth camera script) transitions up into space, like seen in my previous post, the music changes - then I'll cut to another map, without transition, that has the same universe backdrop, but a different scene, and the camera will transition back down. Cinematiiiiiiiic - lol.

@hian - I'm actually not a fan of how your characters look on the background, looks kinda like pixel characters pasted on top of a painted background... kinda like the side view battles tend to look, your sprites should blend with the background not look like stickers pasted on top... maybe desaturate your characters a little? idk...

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
