That's a really large map. Personally I prefer several smaller maps broken down than one large map. It looks good but could use some filling in on the ground. Like grass patches or other dirt patches. Some trees along the path or bushes. Is there a reason it's one giant map?

If you're going to keep it large, use some landmarks or signs so the player can orientate themselves and get a better bearing on the area.

New one from me.  Re-did one house using Mack's set.  I know the one candle on the table needs light added.

Is it weird to mix and match RTP and Mack?  Even though they're used separately in two different maps?  And yes, I know I still have to fix the shelves and everything.

Is there a story-related reason why everything is so far apart?  If that is a village, then houses usually huddle together much more for mutual protection and general neighbourliness.  If I were the player I would want a good reason to go traipsing all that way just to get from one house to another.  Of course, if it's not a village, then delete the previous sentences.

It part of the intro, The village was build to protect it's villagers from attack by delaying the attacker movement, Instead of putting all the house put together in a single place which end up in hostage of multiple people instead of 1 to 2, the villagers decided to be separated so they can ring the bells that they are attacked. And give other enough time to escape. Sacrifice is also shows. Since the area where is located is also remote outside the country But consider the villager know that danger is around the corner and to protect the people that is located at top left of the map (which I cannot tell why Because It will spoiled the plot).

Noticed you changed the color of the window. I like it better. The small tweaks are good too. The sun in the first one is oddly shaped. It looks ten times better in the second one. Great job and I look forward to the finished battle system lol

@ksjp17

@ShinGamix Thanks to you both!

I had a few people ask me when a demo will be released, but I don't like making empty promises. Hopefully I'll get around to making a thread for my game soon. :/

Also, I like the graphic chosen for your battle background, but what's with the lines running down from top to bottom? Also, it would look much nicer if you put in a floor layer so the actors and battlers wouldn't look as if they're just floating there (but you probably already know this haha).

@Shin - IMO, having the battlers "float" is not good looking... the battleback itself and the HUD looks nice though... XD

and initial layout of my command learning scene...

when there is something to learn

CommandLearning0.PNG

when there is nothing to learn (you learned everything already)

the first pic looks fine, but IMO, the bed looks too big for the RTP sized characters... it's bigger than the RTP beds right?

I think it's only bigger by a few pixels. The difference is very minuscule IMO. The second picture also got a heavy edit after I posted that. I'll update it tomorrow. And yay I'm glad you like the first one! Lighting and all is good now?

Also is it weird to mix Mack and RTP on different maps? Like I did here, one is RTP and one is Mack

well, IMO the RTP bed is already quite big for the chibi sprites... hahahaha...

maybe you'd want to light up the parts of the table close to the candle? the doesn't seem to be lighting anything right now...

IMO, it's not weird... I've actually even used a fused mack + RTP (the town shot is actually a fusion, the terrain/ground tiles are RTP and the buildings and objects are mostly mack...

+using only the RTP for rooms makes it hard to create different looks since we only have a single RTP style for rooms...

You're right about the candle. In that picture I hadn't added the light for the candle on the table. It's been taken care of :) .

I totally agree with you. I know they're different styles but it's not too bad if they're used in different maps. Otherwise the difference is quite obvious

EDIT: I like your skill learning scene there. That's pretty cool! Wish I knew how to do that lol. I'm just using Yanfly's script and a window skin I found lol

It's not really that much different IMO... at least if you only use the RTP terrain and rely on mack for the other objects... but never combine the terrain tiles of RTP and mack, they look awful... XD

It's just a matter of making a new scene + windows and selectables... the learning thing is quite simple too since you just compare the required EXP with the available EXP... the command melding would be a lot harder if I pursued that idea [i simply didn't pursue it because I can't find a good way to create the list of recipes]... once you know the basics of creating scenes and windows, you can do those too... :)

btw, the owner of that house is quite rich... that's a big room for a single person... XD

here is the 2nd version of that type (I am not done with this one)

Does it still work? I think I am liking the style and design feel.

Now I think I am going to have to cut off the bottom of the turn bar to be above the menu.

the back part looks like a wall due to the clear separation between the foreground and the background...

it's not really bad though if that's the style you're going for... but why are there vertical black lines?

@adiktuzmiko

I like the wall looking effect and then a foreground. May add more details or layers later on but so far thats kinda cool and unique looking.

Three reasons Ad**Miko

1. Uniqueness and I can tell if other people steal them

2. Marks enemy area and the center of the party line

3. Blends in the black area to have an overall effect and I may end up also using the separate parts for a special change out background/wall later on.

@Dumbfoundead

Who would I have to kill to play that battle? A encrypted battle demo (of just that battle) would be great with me.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
