@Raiden : I have yet to see it in action, but with stills I can only say : too dark.
I can't see further than 3 tiles away !
It'll be a horror mystery genre game therefore I've prepared a versatile lighting system.About the "suicide" option, it's a parody of Load function as a penalty for returning to checkpoints by loading. (though it can be bypassed by restarting the game program) Didn't know that it offends though.@Raiden I don't recommend including "suicide" as a menu option in case it may offend people. Apart from that, a save function may be useful. I don't think it's too dark actually. It suits the mood of the game. As long as it's only dark in open spaces, then it's fine, because you can move in any direction. Still, you can ask yourself "do I need a restrictive light system"? I know plenty of games that think they needed a lighting system didn't actually need one, because RPG Maker doesn't tend to treat shadowy games well, for some reason.
I have to contend and say that nothing should be off limits unless it's in poor taste. Take humor, for example; there shouldn't be topics that we could not make jokes about. But there's a fine line between what is tasteful and what is not, and that line will always be subjective.@Raiden
I saw the suicide option, and honestly, I'm offended that that is in the game as an option. I had numerous experiences with suicide these past few years, and it's no trivial thing, let alone trivial enough that you can use for just loading another save file. It's rather insensitive, and quite frankly, idiotic and ignorant. I HOPED that it was going to be something very important to the game, but if it's just a renaming of the load function... No, not cool. Change it back to "Load" or "Quit."
I still think that if you're erring on the line of poor taste and it's not actually that important to keep it then I don't think you should. I think that the nomenclature could be changed to "Load" unless it was extremely important that it must be suicide. But I'm of the opinion you have to always be careful that whenever you go near that line you're doing it for proper reasons and that you can actually pull it off. As it looks I think it should be removed because it just kind of looks tacked on as an afterthought rather than central to gameplay. If something required you to suicide as part of a moral decision that displayed some sort of story significance then it might be warranted, but even then I'd advise against it unless it was done with extreme tactfulness.I have to contend and say that nothing should be off limits unless it's in poor taste. I understand fighting for the right to say anything you want, and that's cool, but what makes this so offensive and ignorant is HOW it's used. How it's used as just a replacement to the load option is what makes this whole thing an issue. If it actually was more fleshed out and did something more than just load, THAT WOULD BE OKAY. But since he said it's just to load a save, it's making suicide seem like such a trivial and okay thing to do, which it's not. *Insert numerous suicide related stories here* The thing is, it's not even humorous. I didn't get it at all when I first saw it, and I'm sure I'm not alone.I have to contend and say that nothing should be off limits unless it's in poor taste. I agree that in this case it seems to be there for no good reason at all, and because of that it falls into the area of poor taste for me too.I still think that if you're erring on the line of poor taste and it's not actually that important to keep it then I don't think you should.
