I like that! Did you draw the monsters?

@Shadow - That Forest mapping of yours makes me jealous, great job. I scanned it a few times and couldn't come up with anything major. Keep up the good work.

@ Stridah - It is looking good, I am not sure if it is intentional but the plant setup on the left is off by one square to the setup on the right? Thats the only thing that I noticed. Can't wait to see the 2nd floor and basements!

@SOC - Keep working at it, if you want to match those old time ff graphics, do some searching on tilesets! Some fine tweaking is all you need.

EDIT- Ah yea, I forget I can actually take mapshots haha.

Here are the mapshots of all the ones I have posted. They look quite different after I add lighting with screen tints!

New map I'm working on. Just have to add lighting and such! I've been working on towns, they are my weakspot.

Warning: Large picture sizes!

@shadow that is a very nice, it still amazes me how much nicer xp rtp is than ace.  Overly super picky comment, the log on the back cliff looks to big, id shrink it.  This is going over the map with a microscope it looks great.

@oz looks really nice mate sometime you gotta post a screen of your whole map! screen shots give such a small sample!  You have a nice style painting those cliffs with the brush.  Your right about the plants, that's why its great to have a few sets of eyes.  (I hate making interiors lol)

@ipei

In your first map the colour of the floor tiles make them look a bit like water tiles. But perhaps they are supposed to?
Oops, I took it wrong. I didn't mean to soak the floor but it actually looks. Sorry, I'm bad at English.

Does 'eyes' mean tiles? If so, I totally agree. Once I start to decolate maps with furniture, I can't stop it and I lose a lot of time just to modify the details.

I'm sorry. I'll edit them. can I delete my multiposting later?

Thank you for your correction. So that meant if few peaple watch your game, you don't have to modify according to their comments, right?

@ipei:

"Extra pair of eyes" is an expression that means that you have someone else look over your work and see if anything was missed. Sometimes when you work hard on a project (or map), you can miss details or make small mistakes. So it helps to have someone else look at it. They will have a different perspective and they might notice things you didn't see. :)

@ipei - modifying things based on user comments is up to you... for me (As example), normally if more people tell me about it, then the probability of me doing it will be higher... but if even 1 person suggest something, and I respect that person (like if for example he is an expert on the matter), then that suggestion matters a lot more... especially if it's a field that I know I'm not very skilled on...

That's so kind of you! Thank you very much! The reason I came here is to know more people engaged in game making. Sometimes I mistranslate but it's so exciting seeing many people tacling on RPG maker!

@Shana

Yes, if you have policy, you can priotize their feedbacks. And I know you all are kind of policy owner, otherwize you don't choose such a game like RPG maker.

(shift-mapping is paramount...use it, for the love of glob!)

Tried to do my thoughts on all the screenies I've missed since last post, sorry for the giant post (or if I'm repeating what others have said).

@The Shadow: Absolutely gorgeous!  I like your lighting and color scheming.  God, I miss RMXP mapping.

@Lihinel: You pulled off the shadows/lighting very nicely.  Very subtle, I enjoy it.

@Samsonite:  These are great starts, but don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone.  Feel free to experiment around.

@Confederacy:  This is actually nice...however, I'd mess around with the color of your sewer water.  When I first looked at this, I thought the grate bridges were actually gates, and the sewage water were walls.

@ipei:  If you were going for the nes look, you got it!

@Stridah:  Not bad, but the wood floor comes off too strong color wise.  Maybe darken it a little?  Also, I don't really feel the cavern overlay works as the ceiling tile...I'd just keep it as a regular wood/room look...let the outside of the building suggest it's a mountain village.

@spywaretof:  I like the mapping a ton, but the giant picture objects always feel out of place in rpgs in my opinon.  This is just me being critical and more my taste...if you weren't to change a thing, I'd still say job well done.  Looks like an action rpg title.

@Indrah:  Your mapping is good as always... but the stone tiles come off as too strong to me.  I dunno, it's super bright, I feel like if  it was darkened a little bit, it would blend more with the rest of the floor, especially with the nature you got going on around it.

@SOC:  Your monsters are badly pixelated (if they are not placeholder), and your players are too close together in my opinion.  Maybe space them out?

As for myself, I started editing the tiles for the Forest Goblin Ruins I've been working on.  I like how it came out, but I'm fearful I may have made the grass too dark.  Thoughts?

Meh, frankly I prefer Ace RTP. Or 2k3. XP is too washed out for my liking.

@Oztick: That is looking pretty freakin' nice. Love the feel of those maps so far. Will you be using a different movement system than the default, though? It'd be nice to run around pixel based on maps like that.

A new screen from me~

Yes. I limit the colour selection down to NES limit and the number of colours one sprite can have is up to 3 other than black.

As for your grass, I love it. Green is my most fatorite colour. I changed my grass darker cause bright green sometimes make you uneasy while dark calms you down, from my point of view.

@Ksi

Awesome! Your color has nice sence. It contains many feeling in it.

I'm seeing fog on multiple maps, I have avoided using fog or asking about it because all my games have a day/night cycle. But making it foggy during the night and have it raining during the day could be cool. Or vice versa.

EDIT: Forgot to ask. How exactly are people using fog? Is it a overlay or a feature inside ot VXAce?

You'll have to use a picture of your own. Nothing like that in the RTP...

amazing how different taste can be I LOVE xp rtp, hate ace rtp w a passion.

@ultimus, looks good, my only nitpick would be I get the vibe from your mapping that you love symmetry.  With trees in a forest they wont always appear in a perfect triangle.

@ksi nice job w the trees looks good

quick question, why don't more people post full maps? Isn't it easier to find errors in a big map then a tiny screen shot? I always post the full map cause screen shot is not big enough.

Ahahaha... that is the full map. It's a pretty small settlement. XP

But I'm glad you all concur that it looks good. I thought for a while that I'd gone a tad over-board with the lighting for the fire/lantern. Good to know it's not too much (and that ya'll like the purple~)

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
