Yes, the side-to-side doors.  Like I said, I understand why, but in most houses, if you put a rug under a door the door will not shut easily.  But this isn't reality is it?  ;)   So do as you wish.  Because really, I always find the critiques in this thread kind of funny when they are so nit picky "in real life" - well, in real life you don't staff wielding magicians walking into houses taking things before going off to blast three-eyed monsters, you know?
that is a sig worthy quote haha! made my night

Personally didn't think the first was that bad, but that second one is great! And glad to make your night. ;)

Title screen graphic/music at the end of the video are placeholders.

It suffers a bit of quality lose from recording/uploading unfortunately.

@Stridah: Just one tiny nit-pick. The direction the stairs down are facing... people coming up them would ram straight into that wall. I forsee a lot of broken noses, tumbles and cursing. XD

A simple flip should do it. And yes, the map looks a hell of a lot better now. Great job!

hian I like the screen! great idea too I love suikoden.

@ksi ok will flip, I always have trouble with the stairs cause I want them to match how it looks on floor one (I find that hard for some reason lol).  Also noticed I should prob add a torch to the wall in front of stairs.

Yeah, I know most places IRL don't have rugs under doorways, but we do have to make a lot of abstractions for video games, heh.

@Allerka: That looks much better with the table.

Here:

I did the same thing with one of my games, but the mat comes out too far, imo. (The black sqaures are for lining it up easily in a tileset.)

Ends up looking like this^
So basically try smaller rugs that don't stick out so much? That could be doable. I'll try that out.

In the meantime, here's the LeGuin residence, the third house you can visit in Montblanc. Mileena's family is more upper-class, so tried to go for a fancier layout. Wondering about the stairs and the open space on the first floor, though.

@Stridah great improvement overall.

@Rachael really cool! The mood completely changes however as soon as you hit the title screen, it doesn't exactly mesh well with the seriousness of the scene.

The title screen is super temporary art at the moment. Don't worry, it won't look like that at the end lol

@Rach: The intro is super cool looking but it's a sharp change in tone between that and the title screen I think.

Edit: Just read Maki's post. Nevermind then.

@the shadow - I like the simple, clean lines of your menu and the icons look good.  The only thing that is visually unappealing to me is the width of the gold/time menu.  It would look a lot better if it were the same width as the menu above it.

@shadow

I, on the other hand, like its clean lines, though I agree with mlogan about the width of the gold/time section.  Perhaps you will run out of space for the time digits if it becomes any narrower?

Ugh... I'm SOOO drawn out for this week! All battlers have been updated with my own versions with this last battler~

Going to take a break for a few days off before I start work on the Phantasy Star actor battlers. Keep my art hand strong! xD

@djDarkX: I dunno if you're good at mapping or the DS style is too cute. Great job there!

@Galv: We don't really stand a chance against you xD! How many days you invested in that tiny map?

@Allerka: I don't like the rug-door thingy :\ Perhaps you are better off putting a simple arrow in those places (like a small green arrow for indoor rooms and red for the exit).

@Stridah: Your new inn definitely looks better. The position of the torches is what bothers me a bit, they should be located at the left-right walls, not above a bed and next to a painting; way too dangerous xD!! (or just use candles placed somewhere)

Also toy with lighting effects for more beauty :p

Here is the cabin-dorm's bathroom of the game I'm working on:

Here is version 2:

(I still need to place a window and add lighting effects but you got the idea :p )

This map was in development in a different thread, with tips from community members (thanks again). Now that it is pretty much complete (minus overlay effects), I will go ahead and post it.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
