@stridah: I hate when people use mack-generator and the "original" mack sized sprites together. Mack-generator makes characters too big and doesn't add shadows. Also your soldiers have very different contrast than the charcter in the middle. (The banners next to that entrance are not attached to anything. Physics!)

As usual I am only using the default tilesets given to me. BUT this time though I am using this map for the game I am making! The empty table in the hallway is normal it will be used for events and has to be kept clean. Other than that you guys can go ahead and rip me apart on the messy house I wanted to create! ad lots of fun doing this one.

@Sloth - I actually think it looks pretty good for a messy house. I don't like those carpets in there - to me they say royalty. I would use some of the other rug choices. The piano looks a little odd in the middle of the room like that. And what are the railing things at the end of the bed? I get all the other stuff is supposed to be junk piled up, but the rails don't make sense.  Also, since it is supposed to be pretty messy, could you pile some stuff on that table? Most messy houses would have that table right inside the door piled full of stuff!

Really though, I think you did a good job creating the effect you were going for with just the RTP resources.

^S/He already said the table is empty for reasons. That said, perhaps add a half-table next to the door (overlap hero/under wall) with some stuff on it like shoes or the like? Also, clothing scattered around, dishes and the like. There's a distinct lack of kitchen area, too. I don't mind the carpets actually, though they do say 'richy mcrichpants' instead of 'collector mcstoreitallington'. ;p

After mass work and having pretty much no computer time I'm checking to see if I can still map. Just a simple park during the early evening.

@Shin - One thing I'd like to say is that, it has so many options... not really a fan of overly populated main menus... as much as it's nice that they're available all in one menu, I'd rather see them categorized...

@Chaos - looks nice, though to me it's weird to see a lamp-post right in the grasses, and right now it's on top of the grass

@Engr. Shana They open up during the game and all of them are not available at the start of the game. and after all the work to get it to a ring style I kinda like it as a list also.

Maybe itcould be an unlockable option in my system options after some quest of achievement....I dunno but it is still kinda neat.

the ring style is nice, but maybe give it a larger space as it still looks cluttered... my previous comment was more about Version 1... though if you can separate them into categories, which then shows drop down menus, that might be more awesome.

I like the larger ring. I think that would be a really cool feature - the rotating ring menu. It's just too squished. Could you rearrange and remove most of the stuff on the right to a menu that open from the ring and make more room for the ring?

The ring rotating to multiple options.

*Shown with windowskin option 19

I really dont want to remove the stuff to the right. I like the extra info.

I have plans for the 5 Variables area too,

No problem, it was just a thought. I'm sure playing the game I would get used to it, but the OCD tendencies in me wants to see the WHOLE RING, lol!  And I really like the border of this windowskin better but the background is a bit much for me. I think it would look better with a solid background.

@shingamix: That is a really nice looking menu. I'm not usually a fan of ring menus in general but in this case the large ring definitely looks better than the list. My only concern would be with the fact that with 16+ items in the menu to start with it could be an irritation for a player having no clue what order the menu items are in since they can only see the first 3 and last 3 options at one time, though it's better than the tiny ring cluster if there is anyway that you can make it a little more navigable to new players who aren't used to half as many options as your menu offers that would probably be ideal. Aesthetics-wise it's a really nice menu however.

Some screens from a project I started today off of a short story I suddenly started thinking about, I've decided to play with making a few short games for now and hopefully come back to my main project once I have some experience finishing a game or two. (also needed an excuse to play with the ds resources I bought during the steam sale to justify my impulses.)

@Alexander Beautiful and sparse, like traditional NES titles used to be. But you can improve on the placing of the logs. I mean how can they logically get there? Seriously?

I'm focusing on events and quests right now, so not much in the way of new screenshots to share. I do, however, have a couple of mock-ups of potential menu interfaces for my game utilizing an upcoming scripting package being worked on.

The basic idea behind both is that, although my game appears to be fantasy-ish on the surface, it's actually a sci-fi universe, and there are many remnants of pre-Fall technology lying around (some of the basic items you use are left over technology). My thought was towards the start of the game, Alex (the main character) acquires a datapad (basically a super-durable tablet with apparently infinite battery life), which serves as the menu interface, and so accessing the menu looks like you're looking at the datapad's screen. This overall UI would extend into combat as well.

I should probably mention that after this picture I tweaked the fonts to be a little more readable (i.e. made them bigger).

It was pretty late in the night, so I just pasted the first entry instead of bringing in the other characters, but you get the idea.

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
