Have I mentioned I'm somewhat obsessed with the Pixel Myth set? Because I'm still bothering it endlessly (instead of actually working) >:T

Hit my 300th map. It only took me nearly four years. -_-

Regular map. In two months, it'll be over. EHD will be done. All 12 hours of it. One more bridge to cross, dear Laine...

Hello, everyone! :)

This is technically the main hall/living room. I haven't decided exactly what.

Hopefully it looks even a little decent :/ Please let me know if anything looks out of place or anything (with or without the curtains?)

Anne,

I love the general theme of the whole scene. Curtains look good. However -- and I could be in the minority opinion on this, but -- the carpet (it IS a carpet, is it not?) passing beneath the stairs kinda, um, ... kills it, for me. I could almost accept that you want long horizontal and vertical runs of carpet connected, but please PLEASE cut it short so it's not passing under the foot of  the stairs.

Other than that, I love it, though the statues might look a little better with just one space between each one and the stair next to it.

I had a feeling something did look out of place, so thank you for letting me know. :) Glad you like it otherwise. Could you explain the last part with the statues? I didn't really understand it.^^ Thank you for your feedback!

I think they just meant to move each statue in one tile.

Also, shadows on the right sides of the stairs would help. Overall, I think it looks lovely.I prefer the curtains, it breaks up the gold a bit.

It is more a matter of personal spacing, on my part. I would have placed the statues so that at least one empty "floor tile" is between a statue and the side of the stairs next to it. Other than that, I love your mapping.

@Luchino I like your map, so there is nothing I can think ...

I was playing around with graphics that have a similar look like "Corpse Party"  I think of adding more stuff, but I'd need to edit, create new graphics...

@Caitlin:

I'm not sure if the light colored outline is really working for the ground. Can you try with a dark color to see if it looks better?

Other than that, it caught the "Corpse Party" feeling pretty well.

Hi everybody,

So this is not a map from my game, i threw it together in gimp because i have been practicing my water for ages and have never been able to get something i am really happy with.  I am looking for feedback specifically on the water.  (I just put random objects in it to experiment).

-I have yet to find any sort of good information on how to actually edge your water when parallaxing (the white foamy part at then outside) if anyone has any good information i would love to hear it.

@stridah I think the actual effect of the water is fantastic, but when I look at the map its like the ground water and objects are just a little out of sink in terms of colours/saturation/shade if that makes any sense at all. lol

Its like they just don't tie in to the one map, accept the little yellow bit of grass that are in the sand/dirt that blend a little too well lol. I Think the objects are just that little too vibrant compared to the background.

but that water Is fantastic, maybe check out the rtp waterfall bottom effect in the characters to get a little idea of how the foam could work?

thanks monkey i just threw objects on so the map was not just water! But im glad it looks good i spent HOURS upon HOURS trying to work out water.

p.s i just realized in my half sleep i put the green grass on the water layer, and drastically altered the water color wow!!!! Silly me haha in a real map it will be corrected.

@caitlin the outline doesn't bother me, its a fine map pretty cut and dry nothing crazy.

That first image is so well parallaxed it looks like a real horror scene. I am quite honestly excited to admit I'm glad I won't play horror games, and so won't see the final result, because it looks like you'd be trying to scare me, as a player.

@Firgof

Impressive images.  I am wondering, though, how the player navigates them.  Presumably that's obvious in-game.

I've posted this image before, but I'm looking for advice and this is the only example of my Forest 'technique' that I can find. I'm trying to get better at making a forest area and I need some tips. Towns, I'm fine with. Interiors, I'm fine with. But when it comes to stuff like Forests and Mountains and so on, I tend to...suck.

Flowers, tall grass, needs more variety in foliage, tree stumps and fallen logs are good too, just needs more stuff. Also I think tree overlap in the middle sections would be good.

Also, how well traveled would those roads be? If a dirt path is rarely used the forest would tend to take it over, so if that's what you are going for that would help your players understand what you are trying to say.

@TimmyTheNerd most people forget about elevation. Rarely do forests rest on flat plains, they're usually situated closely to mountains, so play around with elevation more, it'll break up the monotony of the area and it'll allow you to direct the player into specific areas more easily without having to resort to paths.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
