Managed to flatten down the walkways a little bit more, and added in a few more things.

EDIT: Needs more flowers. Working on that right now.

@Kaelen :

Can't see your image file.
Really? Hmm..maybe it's something to do with the host?  didn't know anyone would have trouble seeing it. I guess I can try using imgur instead and update my post. Lemme know if you still can't see it.

@Metereo :

I kind of thought it was a brown basket. ^^

Wow, that map is huge, Silent Darkness!

You may have to add in more decors, people or animals so that it wouldn't look a bit empty.

For the lower wooden house, it may look a bit better if you reduced the side roofs by at least half a tile sideways each.

@Kaelan:

Just saw your post.

That GUI is great! The battle looks like it is going to be an epic one!

@mlogan, very well done making good use of the PM:G tiles.  They are a little limited, but they can be worked with to bring out some nice looking and full-featured maps.

@Susan and djDarkX - Thank you! dj - Absolutely! It wasn't a real "complaint", more of "Come on Sharm, I NEED more!!!"

Ok, I don't share stuff like this very much, mainly because I'm wary of getting the wrong kind of feedback. But hey, this community is very supportive, so why not. I've spent all day working on a manor interior, using a large palette of samples (Celianna, Lunarea, Mack, RTP, Pandamaru, Candicis - all used with permission/licenses of course).

So, here it is:

I've overlaid the bridge on this map, but you can also walk on top of it on another map. This is about a third of the map so far - I'm also working on a warrens of corridors and various rooms; studies, bedrooms, armouries and so forth.

One thing I've come to realise about parallax mapping - it's SO time-consuming! Getting the right balance and blend of different textures to add detail is the one area that I'm particular on. Texture blending is the reason for parallax mapping, in my mind.

PS. Please move this thread if you feel that it's more suited to general RM stuff, though this is a commercial project.

Love the layout and the dirt on the floor! The light from the windows it a bit too much I think, it needs more shadows in areas light won't reach (corners of the rooms etc.) Try painting in some shadows onto the ground layer too, it can really add punch to a map.

It looks really interesting and well-done!

I was thinking about parallax mapping too, and your work can just encourage me on this way :)

Parallax Mapping - I have the hardest time trying to figure out how to do parallax mapping. If anyone know of any more video that use gimp for parallax or knows how to use it. Please let me now.

Yeah, light/shadow baking is something I intend to do to add an extra layer of depth :)

Thank you so much! I personally feel like I have a knack for this kind of thing. I can't create art, but I can arrange it into arts

Looks really good! Add some light streaming from the windows, and some decors and it'll be better. ^^
I'm still settling on an 'art style' specific to lighting and shadowing. Of course I keep a layered version of the map, so changes are easily made.

There are some additional details that are held within events (field mobs, loot etc) rather than on the map itself; those obviously aren't shown here.

@silent darkness: I think, it still looks waaaay too big and empty. Unless you have a market place, a square in front of a royal building, big crowd of npcs at one place of your city etc., you only need about 4 tiles walkway. Bring everything closer together, it does wonders for the overall look. If you are unsure about it, just copy your map and try it out with every house maximum 4 or 5 tiles apart. And I would place more decoration like barrels, crates. Also, some house walls look really small? A good guideline is having walls 2 or 3 tiles high for the standard sprites.

@phoenix_rossy: Looks good so far, I like how you used the floor textures. I would place a shadow under the gallery and the right staircase. And maybe use taller, 3 tiles or even 4 tiles high, windows?(pandamaru has some lovely church windows, I made normal taller ones, too. Just a suggestion ^^ )? What I don't quite understand is the part with the bookshelves. Can you even access them? I would maybe put 1 tile space between the upper and the two bottom ones. They need shadows on the right side, too. Maybe that's why it looks a bit weird. And on the right side of the room you have one of my book console (desk? don't know the english word). I would put it up against the gallery pillars and put a book on it for instance.

Thanks for the suggestions ^.^ The bookshelves are accessible, but there's nothing of interest on them. The Manor is mostly abandoned, I should probably mention, so I'm not filling it with too much clutter.

Another shot from the Manor:

I've got the feeling that the character's text box should be below the options, personally.

Here's the entrance room in action (I'm using pixel movement, I might add):

I'm nearing completion of the index overview for The Vendor's "Compendium of Creatures". Also features an instant-sort system, where the creatures move to their proper place when you sort based on different attributes (name, area, level, etc). In this video I show name based sort using a hotkey (UI elements coming).

@phoenix_rossy :

Maybe you can check the script tha you are using for the choices window to see if you can push the windows higher.

@Kurinkitafu :

Looks nice. Are you planning on adding some sparkles or mist in the background and/or foreground to add a more dreamlike feel?

@Cluly :

Oh yes. That map looks really good!

I can almost see the chickens in the backyard. ^^

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
