@KaYsEr: Wow..... looking pretty good so far. Bit empty though.
Yes, it's just a gray background to improve visibility in order to "pixel-paint" the graphics. Grass, debris etc will come next. (level design phase)

Speaking of which, you are doing a pretty good level design here. Good job.

That long straight line on the map is painful to look at, and seeing it in a HD screenshot only makes it worse. Also, trees have been sliced in half by that rock cliff?

Oh yeah, I actually realized the trees being sliced myself and fixed that already. I don't know what to do with roads really, I did break it up again near the trees.

@MISTER BIG T  A good rule of thumb is to break up linearity as much as possible.  It's usually more visually pleasing AND more fun for the players. :)

@Goatrider: Your prison photo is very well done. Wonderful use of the tileset you own and it creates a chilling, dark, unsettling atmosphere that would be great for a horror game. As for the gore, it's great that it's not overly excessive, also it matches the theme of the prison, signifying that a great cataclysm has occurred. Amazing job. :D

I call this map, Cascades of the Goddess. I made this in RPG Maker XP in at least 35 - 40 minutes. I haven't mapped in VX Ace yet, because I'm still trying to get the basics of it. (And find out what shift mapping is.)

Looks rather empty and could use a bit more plant-life as it seems rather simple in design.

Though I must say it's pretty good for a basic structure for a map.

This is a image of the Dagoona Castle Interior. Been working on it for most of the day.. :D

I took video of the opening sequences for two related games I've been working on (up till now they've been one game, but that was making it extremely hard to get everything the way I wanted it)

 (the second game's opening is around 1:39 or so)

@XenonCreations

Nice basic layout, though maybe your corridors are a bit wide.

The thing I noticed, though, was how you've done your lighting effect with your candles.  You've made the light pure white (at least, that's how it looks) but light - especially from candles - isn't white.  It's some shade of yellow or orange or peach, depending on the type of light source it is.  So your patches of white look odd.  Also your candles don't actually have flames to cast any light.  I'd suggest putting the flames on, and then selecting one of the flame colours as the base of your light effect.

Also you need to consider the effect on shadows.  On the top map, I think the shadow to the right of the stair rail wouldn't be there because the candles would be lighting up that area.  On the bottom map you have the light going straight up the vertical corridor - but it wouldn't be able to do that.  The wall would cut off a portion, so the candles would only light up a wedge of the corridor, not the length of it.

@XenonCreations: Thanks for rating my work! I'll be sure to improve from this. I admit mine does look a bit barren and too simple, however I thank you for commending my map structure. Thanks again for your feedback! :D

Yours looks very well designed and constructed. The light effects fit perfectly with the castle's indoor architecture. The furniture is well placed and not haphazardly added, and the decoration fits well with the environment. Your game looks like it's going to be a very awesome RPG! I'll definitely be looking into it. Good luck in developing it! :D

Really good map!

I think it's a little too bright, and I don't understand what are those thing on the floor?

( the sink in the upper-left is floating in the air xD )

the lack of the ceiling tile on the walls where the windows are kind of makes it look as if the top part of the wall is on the same level as that of the floor of the room that contains the tube like objects

it still looks weird right now though, especially when the side of that same wall has a ceiling tile... now that I think of it, it can denote several different level variations...

@Heimond

Great improvement.  The variable shapes of the tree trunks make the second map feel much more dynamic.

@no dur hah

I'm with Adiktuzmiko on the ceiling tiles.  If you put them in, and they therefore obscured the bottom part of your lower row of capsules, that will help give the whole map a sense of depth/perspective.  At the moment perspective is all over the place.

Also on the question of your lighting.  The light cannot, given ordinary physics, shine on the top surface of your wall, whether there are ceiling tiles there or not.  Also, it cannot bend round corners to light up the length of the corridor in that nice even fashion.  It would light up a wedge of it.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
