@literarygoth

Nice feeling to those maps.  One thing that I noticed, however, on your first map.  I would switch the furnace to the other side of the house, or flip the image.  At the moment you have the mouth of the furnace slap up against the wooden house.  When it's lit, it will at best scorch the wood, at worst burn the house down - though actually getting to the mouth of the furnace to light it would be tricky with the way things are arranged.

I agree about those trees in the 3rd map.  It looks like you've upped the saturation and brightness a bit too much.  They blend better in the 2nd map.

I'm currently working on a dungeon, but I'm a bit unsure how it looks like.

Are there any improvements that can be made?

Light-effects and enemies are still to add, but I'm also unsure about the structure. Does it look good?

@Raider: Are you parallaxing? And also, what kind of vibe are you going for for this dungeon?

@Raider Hey there. The transition from almost perfect tiled floor to soil, is a little too instant. Maybe you should put more cracked tiles near those areas, mingle tiled floor with soil floor, or place some dirt.

@NathanW: Nope, I'm not parallaxing. This dungeon should be under the ruins of a middle-sized castle. It was also a base/ little headquarter for some sages. It was build inside the ground, but was never really finished as you can see. Also nature is taking it back step by step meanwhile.

@Kanax: Thx for the advise, I'll look what I can do :)

@Raider: I suggest laying out the idea in the editor for swiftness, then taking it to parallax if you are trying to do a transition. It will always look blocky and unnatural for the editor's mapping capabilities, but with Paralaxing, you could actually fade the dirt into the tile and add the little rocky pebbles on the transitions. It's just a suggestion, since you seem to want to do the transition by the idea of the map (I was going to suggest removing the dirt since it clashes so much, but yeah... wouldn't work for the idea).

Hello all!

I would appreciate feedback on these two apartment maps I worked on a while ago. Stereotyping here - tidy one belongs to a woman, and other, obviously, to a man. Haha!

I think visually it looks great but functionally I can't see the flow of the dungeon unless your game calls for very non-linear dungeons.

To be honest, most dungeons *look* good but it's whether they play good that makes the difference. So it depends. Is it too short? Too non-linear? I think it's good to think about those things.

Visually, though, it looks very nice.

Thank you for your feedback, I shall see what I can come up with :)

@nanaki fan:

edit: Just realised that I never uploaded those wateredits I did for this port town. If someone would be interested in this, I can upload it for use in ace editor.

I would very much be interested in these tile sets.

NathanW lend me a hand and did some parallax editing on the transition between the two floor types.

I think it looks better now, but what about you? Also are there some other points that could be improved?

@Raiden Sprinkle some dirt and crack some of the tiles! It looks like you simply erased them :p

It was actually the other way around for Raider's picture xD I had taken a square of dirt and transposed it over the tiles and then erased the dirt for the transition, as I had offered to do, and refrained from adding any extra bits (besides one or two that I needed to use to cover up some garish parts that did not blend well). If rocks and such need to be added, I could probably touch those in here or there, but I'm not very good at determining where they go lol

@SonicToTheLimit; Nice arena, I like the idea. It looks good, but you should add some foliage maybe or perhaps some vegetation outside the walls. Keep in mind, just because the player cannot go there, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. So it's best to put trees or such outside the walls so it doesn't look plastic.

Edit: Upload your image to Imgur at full resolution and then use the Direct Link http link from imgur. That's what I do and it works well.

Raider I've placed your images behind a spoiler tag, but next time remember to do this yourself. Large images should be spoilered.

@Celianna: Ok, sorry about that, won't happen again.

@Kanax: Impressive. I do like that. For now, I think I'll do a combination between both Parallaxes. But this is only the first floor of the dungeon and your way would be very useful for the deeper ones, as they are going to be more "rough" and with more "earth-floor".

Anyway thanks for your work :D

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
