Thanks, mlogan. ^^ She's behind it actually, not on the top of it. XD

    And wonderful map you have there. ^^ I like how tidy everything is and the map is not too cluttered or empty. I think I'd like to live in that house. XD

    @mlogan:

    Looks very pretty!

    I suppose the shadow on the stair is custom made? One tiny mistake: the wall to the right needs to be one tile higher.

    @Mlogan:

    In addition to Macbeth10's remark, the whole south (bottom) wall needs either to be shown as 3-tiles high or be shift-clicked, as it is shown as a 2-tiles high wall at the moment.

    @Macbeth - Yes, the shadow is custom. :) And I cannot believe I missed that wall! D'oh!

    @cabfe - It is, it just doesn't show in this screenshot. Didn't quite fit all in. :) Sigh, wow it wasn't. Guess that's what I get before mapping for coffee, lol!

    Left was the original concept, right is the final result.

    Very unsatisfied. I also have a hard time judging the colours because on my tv screen it looks darker and on my laptop much brighter.

    I'll probably restructure the small prison area again.

    As much as I want to use different resources, I want to stay vanilla with only the default stuff.

    Comments and critique is appreciated

    Even ideas for a small prison map is appreciated.

    Instead of a red screen tint, try this one -17, -68, -153, 81

    It gives quite a nice golden brown to the stonework.  You could always tweak it a bit if you wanted it a little darker.  This may cure your light issue which I think is a little too blue.  Unless we are in some magical realm, candle light is usually yellow/orange/peachy sort of colour, not blue.

    Presumably the space around the desk is where the guard is.  If so, I don't really believe all the stuff piled up around the outside of the table (how does the guard get behind the desk?) and there looks to be something off about the lid/top of the upper barrel where you have 2 stacked.  It looks as if there are spears stored in the jar, but it also looks like the shafts do not touch the sides, so how are they held upright?

    I'll try it out.

    I'll try ditching all the blue lightsources and switch it for red ones.

    I sometimes forget about the small realism part about making maps. Yes I will create a path so the guard can go through. Also nice catch with the spears, I will probably ditch those or fix it.

    The improved map will come tomorrow since it's pretty dayum late here :p

    Thanks by the way (°v°)7 keep the critique comin'

    16x16 mapping?  If it's a way to do it in editor and not parallax I must have this.  It makes a huge difference in how it looks.

    @Archeia:

    The water looks great! Looks much more natural in 16x16. Same for the grass and the tiles on the right.

    Perhaps more cliffs on each other, if it is a mountain area? Also the  rock in front of the earth pile is missing its tip.

    Is Deckiller the one who made this tileset? Or a collosion script? I'm fairly new here.

    @Archeia: I really like what the 16x16 mapping does for the stone, and especially the water! Even with it, it's hard to make the blocky cliffs look great though. I'm sure it's a matter of opinion, but are there any diagonal cliff resources floating around here?

    100% agree with this.  I'd like it too!

    @TheRiotInside

    Yes there are.  And rounded.

    The 16x16 mapping is nice, but the cliffs seem too blocky. Using 16x16 you should be able to make them a bit rounder (as it is in RMXP). It would improve the map.

    Oh yea, I completely forgot about those. Decky helped with the mapping for testing. The map is just a test for something Yami and I are collaborating on for Omori.

    It's default VXAce tiles just being used as 16x16.

    We used TileD and map there. Then make it call inside RM. The events will be labelled with precise x and y conditions you want them to be through a comment. Then after that, you will just save the tmx files on a map folder and then watch it go. If you're curious about the movement:

    Mapping with TileD instead of the editor would solve all my mapping woes.  I look forward to it.

    Your map looks really good to me. There are only several minor improvements you could make in my opinion, but nothing too big:

    1. Change the red tint for another. I think some darker tint like grey would look better, you have to just experiment until you get someting that looks good.

    2. The blue lights look really cool to me, you should keep them. Unless you have a really realistic/modern game you could pass them off as magical lights for guarding the prison or something :p

    3. Reminder that the desk is unaccessible which is a slight mistake there. Same for the bookcase

    4. I think it would look better if you reduced to contrast just slightly, but not too much.

    other than that I like the map

    Would someone be willing to explain to me the advantages of 16x16 mapping (or maybe just what it means)?

    The same advantage as having a screen with a higher resolution.  The smaller the squares, the less it looks like a grid.

    The other advantage is passability settings. Like you can go to corners without feeling like there's an invinsible wall
