Working on a Downtown area, with a Convention Center and a hotel that is also hosting parts of the convention.
I think you're really overdoing it with the light effects.  Also the light source from the street lamps doesn't seem very natural.

I only hosted the green sewer part of the pack, if you're looking to hoard. Here's the entire set: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8vz6jmls0c1r60x/FBU.rar

Thanks again.

@ Doctor Artist: I completely agree with mlogan about the empty space on the lower right map, I really believe you should either make that hallway smaller or add some sort of decoration to it.

@Nirwanda:

My screen tint for the sewer was -30, -20, -30, -40, if that helps.

Some suggestions: The wide top part of the wall doesn't give me the impression that this is underground. I would maybe only use 1 tile wide top part and leave the rest in blackness. The bridge sticks a bit out, because it has a very different color compared to the rest. And I would try and not make the walls a straight vertical line, add some nooks and side paths.

If you want a very nice example how a sewer with rtp tiles can look, I have a screenshot for you. It is not made by me, but by Piscato from the german game "Ring der Herren":

You can download the game here: http://rpgmaker-vx-ace.de/board3-wichtiges/board6-wettbewerbe-und-events/4093-classic-rpg-contest-siegerehrung/

I'm not sure I get your advice about the wall. Do you mean something like this?

I'm not sure I like it better...

About the nooks and sidepaths. That area is pretty small, that's why I made it straightforward. The rest of the dungeon is more convoluted and hopefully interesting.

Also, I completely agree about the bridges, I should either try to edit it or find a more fitting one. Thanks for the advice and the link. :)

@DoctorArtist - Overall you've got some nice maps started. Those interiors though - you've got some huge empty spaces. I almost justified the top one by telling myself it was like a ballroom/dance area, but then I saw the lower one. It is just too, too much empty space.

Also, the streets confuse me a bit, it looks like there are three lanes and typically, unless the middle lane is marked a turn lane, there are lanes in multiples of two. At least, in my experience. And the car driving on the line looks odd.
The lights agreeable when it comes to the street lights, I really need to turn those down a bit. The empty spaces are going to be filled with some object and mainly a bunch of people.

(facepalm) I'm a friggen idiot! I walk the sidewalks every day, I'm freakin' 21, and don't know how to build a street correctly. UGH! Thank you for the correction, so so much!

An impression reinforced by the carefully placed highlights.

Those are some gorgeous maps, Myst88. If there is one nitpicky thing to mention is that the first map looks to be dusk, yet the streetlights are off, giving it a darkish look.

It would actually.

Snow and ice walls around live fire, candles and such. It's all about how you build the snow shelter, then it's actually quite warm inside so it can withstand levels of heat.

Also notice, there's a layer of brick just on the spot behind where the furnace is at to help handle the heat even more.
I bet it stayed like that 5 years!

On a serious note; remember you just have to isolate and aerate well around the heat/flame sources. A chunk of ice will still extinguish a fire and a flame will still let ice sweat at some point/distance!

It's a fantasy game...in the end, can't you just say "magic" and leave it at that? :p

Actually there is a layer of a brick wall directly behind the furnace to help isolate the area.

See? The ice is not in direct contact with the furnace. As bricks are made in a fire kiln, they're already highly resistant to fire and can help isolate the heat it generates so that it's mostly only generated forward, not back. Notice also the brick layer has depth and height to it to help so that it isolates the source of heat away from the ice again and more towards the housing.  :)

A thermo dynamics expert or a building expert can verify if this is true or not but it sounds very solid on paper and should work, at least enough to make you able to buy into it in a setting with giant spiders and magical healing cubes. :p

Made this new map with animated parallax script (doesn't show well with this still screenshot tho).
Trying to create rare fresh and clean scene in the post-apocalyptic world.

In my opinon, you capture this feeling well. :)

@AceOfAces - Why so much empty space? You could drastically reduce the map and still fit everything. Also, why the royal looking couch with the mats for beds? I would also put some more space around the tables.

@AceofAces_Mod

I think I am correct is saying that every map of yours starts off too big.  Could I suggest that you have a look at maps on this thread that people say are okay (they don't have to be stellar, just 'good enough') and work out the number of tiles used to make them.  Then use that as a guide for making your own until you automatically make things of a more appropriate size.  Also perhaps make a check list of things that people point out, like the absence of windows, for example, and use the check list to help you avoid repeating the same mistakes.

Now down to business.

I assume the room with the tables and chairs is the dining room.  Move it next to the kitchen.  No one is going to carry food for 8 across the whole house when there's a big open space right next to where the food is prepared.

There's not a cupboard anywhere in the house to store anything - food, clothes, household items.  Nor a shelf to put anything on.  Where do people keep their stuff?

The wall tile you have chosen to use makes the place seem very institutional - barracks maybe?  It does not create the sort of ambiance of a house where people live.  It all seems sterile.  There are no personal items of any description.  No fireplace to keep people warm.

Well, this was a prototype version (uploaded by mistake. oops!) but the current version is pretty similar.

This maybe just my opinion but the lower half of the map feels somewhat empty, maybe is due to the contrast on how full the upper part is. Also, what's with all the beds?Unless it's an inn, there's just too many of them. And in any case, it would make more sense to have them in separate rooms not all in one. It's a notable improvement over the previous one, nonetheless.

@AcesofAces

Too many beds, not enough wall details/furniture in the hallways, especially bottom right corner. Consider windows on front of house, too.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
