Then it would be "going on a death trip", not "going to".

I got a little sidetracked from working on my game, and decided to experiment with some parallax shift mapping techniques

A map...I am not. I am just a mere test map.

"Ask not what you can do for shift mapping, but what shift mapping can do for you!" - Liberty, 2015

I also wanted to throw in a 'real' map. This too, is just experimentation... and also proof of how high up I was on the Sidetrack Level.

I just couldn't beer to leave you without this one. Merry Christmas!

Okay, you guys are so grammar naziii. Haha

Anyway, I would probably be separating it into rooms.

PS: If you obly have two small bookshelves, wouldnt it be impractical to place them on separate sides of the room rather than just putting them together?

Death Trip doesn't make sense in the english language, I get english may not be your first language, Death Trap makes more sense, you don't take a trip to death unless death is a character, then you say "You will a take a trip to see Death." (but thats off scope of this mapping thread)

It makes sense with how you have your room set up to put bookshelves on either side of the room to balance it out. Think about where your eye is drawn too, mine was the off centered room, so more to the left,

@Kim Shyuen:

The individual rooms are very nice, but I find the map extremely confusing. I take it this represents all floors of the house, on the same map? But then your attic (top-right) is directly above the middle floor (top-left) and also directly above a completely different lower floor (bottom-right). How does that actually work in 3D?

Also, going from the lowest floor (bottom-left) to the middle floor, the stairs start at the north edge and end at the south edge. In other words, the middle floor is hanging onto a narrow overhang like this:

  _

_|

Okay, that might be possible if the upper floor is supported by something, e.g. another dwelling in the same building, or the slope of a mountain -- but then you're not going to get light streaming through the north windows of the lower floor!

Top-left floor: The second room has a desk with writing equipment, but no chair. There is a carpet under the stairs.

Top-right floor: The narrow corridor has a cabinet placed lengthways, so it's impossible for anyone to open the doors.

Bottom-right floor: The purple carpet is an irregular shape. It would look better if you used shift-click mapping to give the impression of a rectangular carpet, with the pink carpet placed on top of it.

@Kim_Shyuen18 - The stairs are really bothering me because they seem too long for the house. The middle stairs probably only need to be two tiles high to match the height of the walls. The rest of the space can be filled in with flooring to make a hallway that leads to the other rooms. The stairs on the far right need to be broken up with landing areas. I don't like pulling the "In Real Life" card but, in this case, the way you have the stairs don't look functional. An IRL home would have stairs going down, then a landing, then stairs going down to the right, then a landing area, and then stairs going downward again.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

There are stairs that change directions without landings but they are typically built in a curve like this:

If that's what you want, then you'll probably need to use a graphics program to modify those stairs to make them more functionally realistic.Plus, I legit think you have way too many in that area for the size of the home.

@Marquise*

If it is essential to quote a large image, please put it inside a spoiler, as otherwise it makes scrolling the page a lengthy business, as well as slowing down the loading times.

Usually, however, a simple @username at the top of your reply is enough.

Thanks.

@Marquise* Please dont double post the gods will yell at you ....

Any ways, no  and yes.

- The tables, much better.

- The additionally NPC's think about a building where there are people in it. Do they just stand in corners of the room? (do these people walk around?) The would walk around. Maybe event them so that when they touch they stay for a second and speach bubbles appear making it look like they talk.

- The book shelves should be split up or add ones to the other side of the room.

- If this is a hunting lodge or room why the statue? Is it a mythological god? (just curious, I get the church vibe from the window and statue)

- Theres plants in each corner, based on the light source they are not close enough to the window to survive, I would maybe line them up along a wall or up them under the window (thats just me being picky though ... )

Other then that you are doing a good job.

@Kim_Shyuen18 Don't quote peoples posts, use the @userName and then add content or comments. It keeps the thread clean :D

@Darkness Falls

Please do not mini mod.

@Banquo

You are doing the same, so please also refrain

I know that people are only trying to be helpful, but for one thing it can make it less clear to new members (and we have a ton of them at the moment) who is a mod and who isn't.

I don't feel like your stairs work. I feel like they should go straight down and not turn to the left or right. Also there feels like there are to many steps.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
