@Craig: carpets do not work like what you have in your second interior shot. You should divide the sections up with carpets so make them into rectangles or squares not some weird combination you have going there. Other than that, the interior map looks nice. I like your pretty purple forest because of the trees but when I look past that, the ground is really flat. Is there anything you can do to bring more detail into that like longer grass around the trees? small flowers? something to defeat the monotony that is the ground? It might just be me but I find exterior maps like that really boring! I like details!

@Freank You've misunderstood the purpose of this thread.  It's for showing your game screenshots so that you can get feedback and improve them.  There's no point in showing someone else's game.

okay, reposting this screenshot(its been pretty well edited) after talking with a couple people, and endless stress trying(prob still failing) at learning the whole shift click thing.

Hope it is an improvement from the last one

thanks to those that talked to me via pm. Much more happier with this result.

@Prescott : I hope I did the whole shift map the forest on the left better. Its just a river passing on the side of the village.

@MrLogie - one small thing, you might want to move the window in the item shop one tile to the right.  It'd look better I think not completely flush against the door.

Also on the bottom left side, the one piece of forest is missing a bottom...you'd probably have to shift click the upper half of the tree trunk tile and put it there.

Not bad for your first map, congrats and and welcome to the community. :)

No offense taken btw to who ever comments. I know this sucks as it has 'nothing' added to it, but thats the purpose of this atm. I'm looking for feedback on it, seeing if my mapping of the outline of this cave is any good (p.s I tried dungeon generator... it looks too clean cut for me)

you start on the bottom left, work your way around, to the very end. Will have a boss there that will chase you fairly quickly when you get really close.

I plan on adding a way to make it look like you are decending downwards the more you're walking, hard to explain, but the bottom left is where you come out of from the outside, and this is a cave that is supposed to be going down the further you go.

Im not the greatest mapper, but I'm looking for critic anyways.

Mirror Forest - section 02.

My take on the Lost Woods type of puzzle.  Player enters from bottom left and tries to find his way to the next area, only 1 exit is correct.  The others will lead you back to the beginning spot or transfer you to a random exit.  The mechanic in this forest is not everything you see is actually there, look to the water to find the truth.  So the player will need to pay attention to the reflections to find his way out.  In this particular map you can see some signs don't have reflections, that's because they're illusions so to say.  Some dead ends aren't actually dead ends too.  The info about the water and the reflections will be mentioned in a previous area via dialogue between the characters.  Based on that info, which exit would you say is the correct one?

Below is how the map looks ingame, the water/reflections are all animated aswell.  Ignore the FPS meter at the top left.

Also is it just me, or is the image quality lowered on these forums now?  They don't look the same as they do on the original source.

The latest screenshot from Wanda showing apocalyptic event. The cataclysm that would purge the world in flame of destruction, dealing 9999 damage to everything on screen(joking).

Just wondering, which one of the two looked better:

Option1: Plain

Option 2: Partially shaded sides. One of the thing I learn about digital art is to keep the area of interest bright and dim the areas the less important areas.

I personally like ambiance the shading creates but I just wanted to see what others think.

This is how option 2 looks like in the evening / night:

@jonthefox Maybe the forest and the surroundings in the first one is more vibrant. Nothing wrong with that :)

@Aoi Ninami Thanks :)

The first one looks like this in the afternoon/night

Just wondering, which one of the two looked better:
I like the first one better too - something that's really bothering me though is the shadows/path. If the sun's coming from the top left - why are there shadows that make it look like the sun is coming from the south? It's a bit of an eyesore to be honest. And I love the way you've painted your grass and everything - but the bump mapping (that's what it is, right?) on the path makes it very distracting in comparison to the rest of the map.

Thank  you for the suggestion and honest criticism.

The light is hitting the tree from around the 8 o'clock direction (somewhere in between the west and south side).

Is it because the bump stood out too much?

They are slightly more subtle in the previous map:

The bump there looks 100 times better. It just flows with the graphics a lot more fluidly - in your other screen the path looked like it was copy/pasted from some sort of isometric-style fantasy game. And the shadows don't look natural at all - you have trees that already have their shadow placement with additional shadows placed against other trees etc. It's just overkill in my opinion.

This is the oldest version without the shadow layer in between the trees

Seems a little flat without the shadow

I guess what I can do is blur out the shadow a little so they aren't as strong as they are now. Perhaps it will look a little more convincing

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
