    @Banquo I like the first one, where it shows the different heights. It adds more depth. I did the same sort of thing here.

    Small sprite test...i need to punch my friend for the tracing, but it's good to understand the scale.

    Heavy work in progress - but I've pretty much settled on the visual style (light impressionism/water-color), and done a decent amount of character and monster design.

    Now I just need to finish working on the U.I and make battle back-grounds, and then we're getting much closer to an alpha version.

    @DantonSlip I wonder if there is, perhaps, visually too much going on, especially in the second map.

    For example, take the bottom left corner - 7 different types of trees so densely packed that there actually isn't room for them to grow around whatever building that is where we can see a bit of the roof.  And next to it is a rock which must be huge to stand at the same height as the trees.  Then we have 7 different types of flowers, excluding what's in the pond, 3 different types of grass, with and without weeds, and a creeper growing up the house.  I think it needs simplifying because at the moment I think it looks too cluttered.

    The path to the house on the right doesn't actually go to the door.

    Thanks for your comment @ksjp17. :)  But all that abundance of verdure is justify by the context of the game (I can undestand that, without that context, it's not clear at all ! I'm sorry for that, maybe I should present the game on this website on day...). You're right for the path of the house, I'll improve it.

     Thank you for taking your time to comment on my maps !

    I would recommend changing the opacity of the window. It is too transparent and the colors come in looking muddy

    @esby I love your screenshot, the graphics look really neat and the only thing that I'd suggest is crosswalks to make the roads look a bit more natural.  But that's me nitpicking, so take or leave it as desired.

    This is my map, it's a parallaxed map that isn't really interactive map, but more of a story map.  I wanted an elegant manor that's a bit run down over five year or not being repaired.  It's an older manor that had previously been repair.  I am not sure about the yard and how to make it seem like a yard that you'd imagine for that kind of house.  I am open for any advice that people can give me.   This is the first scene you see in the opening introduction chapters of the four main characters.

    @Caitlin looks nice so far, but why is everything rundown and the roof in perfect shape? Shouldn't there be like, loose bricks? Damaged rooftiles?

    I had briefly considered the roof, but I for the life of me can't figure out how to do damaged tiles.  I am thinking of adding debris in the yard like bricks and maybe a board or two.  I'll see if I can figure out the roof, not something "I'VE" done before, so I am not sure what it would look like.

    How about a hole in the roof? It's what eDeus did for Escalia.

    @Caitlin My suggestions for the yard - given the state of the house, then I would expect the garden to be overgrown as well.  I would not expect to see areas of short grass.  The grass would be full of weeds, maybe fallen leaves or the odd mushroom. I would expect to see tufts of grass coming up through the pathway tiles, and perhaps touches of rust on the railings.  As the walls are so full of cracks, then maybe the odd slipped tile on the roof would help.  Those window boxes would almost certainly be full of dead plants by now - no one to water them in the summer (going by the boarded up windows) or to prune them.

    I got another one;  The Virtue Tree skill system. Upon leveling up, a character gets points that can be invested into skills. You can also find Awakening Potions that will give you a VP upon consumption as well.

    @Caitlin

    Candacis has some good roof tiles with holes, right here. There's a couple you can use for the front facing roof, and maybe figure something out for the other roof tiles, I would even mess about with just slowly erasing a tile, filling it in with black, and see how it goes from there?

    @Feldschlacht IV

    Good work, looks good.

    Hello all!
    I thought I'd share one of the first maps I've been working on, it's still incomplete. I'm really excited because I thought my computer had chewed up the file for good, but when I dug back through my folders, alas, it was sitting there patiently waiting for me to finish it.

    2016-06-12.png

    It's incomplete as of yet, but sharing my progress helps me reflect on what work I have done.

    I hesitate to share my work because it is all hand drawn and not particularly pixelly, like tradition rpg maker projects, and that it might turn people away from the game.

    This is the outside of the house. I think I put a chimney on top. You guys think the trees are okay?

    I will add stuff like grass and flowers once the trees are set in stone. :p
