@padr81 Oh man that looks great. Love the style. Seems to look nothing like an RM. Well, nothing like other projects.

Just have a question though. What's the difference between Sword and Slash? I take it Sword is for sword skills?

What if you have someone in your party not using a sword? "Slash" wouldn't really be a good attacking term for someone with a club, or a bow, or a mace.

Never really worked with icons, in all my 21 years(Jesus is that right?!) with rpg maker.

So no icon sets I've seen are really any good at all for SciFi games...So I had to make a few of my own. Just wanted to showcase my menu!

@Mako StarThe graphics are standard pv resources for rmmv. they're great check them out on the site.

The commands change depending on equipped weapon, so if for example you have a bow equipped the commands become shoot and archery instead of slash and sword, with a dagger its stab and dagger.   I need better names for skills bar the bow ones.

I dig your temple sir, but it seems very cramped to me.

^.^ The trees or the building? I've been meaning to make it bigger but then I can't help but wonder what i'd actually fit in the temple, bar a few chairs and a statue. -All that wasted space makes my stomach churn- xD.

Maybe try making your map a little taller and adding some kind of pretty little path leading up to the front door.

Traditionally temples have very exquisite looking entrances.

Oh that, the image is actually cropped. The actual map is probably four times as long, a nice path, plenty of trees and even a water-way leads up to it. Maybe I should've included the whole image.

@darklcb I actually don't think it's that square. From a 100% zoom, the pathways are varied and the water keeps it interesting.

My map's a bit boring, but it's more for testing out these softball field tiles. QAQ

There's a lot of height issues in that map. Mainly that you've got 4-high areas at the same height as 2-high areas (that is, the bridges for 2-high ones connect to 4-high ones at an equal level which makes no sense). It's easiest to see when it comes to the water levels. The middle part is supposed to be the same height, but one side is 2 high and the other is 4 high. It's quite messed up. Pro Tip: lay the bottom layer first, then build off the heights and make sure that anything that is connected by the same floor is the same height all the way around. Bridges count as the same floor, as do the areas they connect to. So the area across from the 4 high should also be 4 high.

Hopefully this helps you see it a bit easier.

Some screens from a game I've been working on. The resolution is pretty small (360x360).

I spent anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks making this map, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

This is the first village that you come across in the game. I haven't added the nightlife/npc's yet, I was just testing the screen tint and torch effects to see if it looks good.

As always, feedback/constructive criticism is always welcome!

Hi there, I'm asking your opinion in the matter of these roofs.

The question, what looks better? Roofs which are 3 tiles high or custom tiles

where the front of the roof is 2 tiles high and it has a backside of 3/4 tile.

I'd like as many opinions as I can get,

Thanks in advance.

Criticism is always welcome.

@Mako Star Lol, thanks!

The bulk of my time was spent trying to fix the fact that I had to take a screenshot of a map that's bigger than 17x13, which meant I had to resize my screenshot so each tile was actually 48x48. That tends to make the tiles blurry, which I'd rather not have the first town look like. So I had to go through and redo the entirety of the base portion of the map.

But hey, I think it was worth it!

Sounds like an excellent practice in patience lol. I think the most time I've ever spent on a map is few days. Was more then likely in 2k/3 era. Now when i sit down to intentionally map huge areas, i can go at it for a solid 5 hours or so. Let's just say my mapping gets better every year...and even more fun when i figure out new tricks! x3

Yeah, it was. Had to take breaks every once in a while because my laptop doesn't like having GIMP, MV, Steam, and Chrome open all at once, and it'll overheat, making GIMP lag. A couple of times, I'd be moving a tile, and all of a sudden the image wouldn't update, making me think that GIMP had crashed. That was a fun 5-second panic attack. Luckily GIMP never did crash.

And yeah, figuring out new tricks is one of the more fun parts of mapping. (I remember how clever I felt when I first figured out that you can use events to give yourself an extra layer for map graphics.)

Haha i had a panic like that yesterday, actually. For some reason, the editor stopped registering mouse clicks. Fortunately i wasn't too high and remembered that i can use my keyboard to open file to save x: Forgive my ignorance, but what is GIMP??

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
