@Princess Bananabelle Huge improvement! That looks great now.
Yeah, so, I need help with something. As a player, would you prefer more immersive enviroments at the cost of your framerate? I made this 3-D Map using H-Mode, and I am curious if it looks good enough to warrant a minor performance decrease
It also renders in 1080p. I don't know if this is the right thread for this, but I need some input.
Credit to Celianna for the resources. This is a map which is running in a 1080p Ace Engine
Props to our dear Macbeth for the creation of these enviroments of mine.
I personally wouldn't mind as long as the drop in frames isn't too drastic.
As it is right now, I don't think that map is interesting. If you can provide a better example of what a nice map would look like, then we'll see, but for your example screenshot right now, I don't think it's worth the decrease, no. It's an interesting perspective, and cool for an Ace game, but it's really not a good screenshot.
@Akumai I've merged your topic with this one.
Map 2 of Tiben,
And updated Map 1.
@Amy Pond Nice. I was wondering if it might be worth taking a couple of the roof tiles into GIMP/Photoshop/whatever, making them damaged and then putting them on a tile B-E sheet so that you could overlay your perfect roofs with something a bit grotty. That would, I think, enhance the overall feel that you are going for. It doesn't have to be holes; it could be made a bit green to look mildewy, or a greyish tinge to suggest a bit of aging. At the moment those roofs are a bit too bright for the rest.
i have a few maps ive been workin on, ignore how i guess, flat the dirth paths look, i was in the middle of working on those lmao
I've finally succeeded in doing what I wanted to when RPG Maker VX first came out and expand the tower section...>_< Serious, a long time overdue project and it looks awesome, if I do say so myself. I saw @Celianna's graphics from her base pack and it made my that I was using... it made them look like nothing more than recolors edits. I am not sure about the windows, though. I am considering making a flag pole, maybe some new windows windows that don't blend in, but I just wanted to show them off. It really looks like I created whole new tiles, when they're only edits.
You're using RMMV right?
If so what Resources are you using?
@Gabu Yeah I am, I'm mostly using RTP stuff and RTP edits, some of Celiannas stuff, whtdragons resources, pandamaru's, and some of the beach stuff was from flakeheartnet, and Candacis's roofs, the main character's sprites i made myself from the mv base and i edited the colors on things like water tiles and cliffs
I'm almost done writing documentation for this plugin:
But I have to say, I miss RM2k3 graphics.
Wow, that looks awesome! Nice job!
So I was wondering: how can I make cut scenes more "cinematic"... more, immersive? Then, I was like, "Hey! What about those black bars you always see in movies?!"
And this is the result! Dunno if it's covering too much though.
@YEEART I personally think it looks pretty good. I'd probably use a zoom plugin as well just to zoom a bit as the black bars appear so it really feels like your getting into that moment but that is me.
fast food test with rural farm tileset and edited modern tileset still working on the finishing touches
Back again with my second map, and this time the scale is much much much smaller.
I decided to try out some different housing styles with the Blacksmith's house (top right) and the General Store (bottom right), but I mostly just wondering what I need to add/remove to make it more homey.
Also, if you notice, all of the houses have entrances, so I wanted to ask: as a player, would it upset you if you tried to enter a place with an entrance and couldn't? Like, it doesn't go anywhere, it's just... there.
I think that the kitchen is too big, it has too much empty space. Perhaps push the counter back a little because people would need more room to queue for food anyway? If not that, try to find something else to put in the middle of the kitchen, like a prep-table or something.
I don't think that having buildings without an entrance is a bad thing. You can also use locked doors for the same effect if you're just trying to fill the town out. About your town, I think it's a little too random and that there's far too much dead space. Towns normally have some sort of structure to them. There'll usually be at least one major path/road through the town and buildings will branch out around that. You should try to think a little more about the functionality of your towns when making them.
yea, i am still working on some tile editing for the kitchen and adding some peeps to it as well. thanks for the advice
