I'm working on a homestead that my characters can buy in-game!

I'm thinking my interiors are better than my exteriors in terms of mapping though, particularly my houses... >.<

It looks great its just the shape looks odd to me, maybe remove the extension on the upper right and left.

~Here's mine, what do you guys think? This is a complete map maybe subject to change If I find really big flaws

~And also my menu screen what do you guys think? Im not quite satisfied with it what should I change any suggestions?

*scratches head* But that's part of the bottom floor... it's meant to be a two/three story house, and kinda fancy looking... so I'd have to have the house be bigger than normal since it's supposed to be mansion like...

    I think I'm just tired...

I really wish I could add a railing to that upper area to make it look like a balcony. I discovered that the bridge leg parts look pretty good at making that part look more risen up from the roof, but there's no way to add a railing and I don't want to make it look like my characters could just take one step too far and they fall off the roof to their deaths (unless it was a horror or mystery game, which it is neither). The closest I have is the fenceposts... but that adds roof tiles to the area which I don't want.

    *tiredly gestures*

@Little AdventurerThe top floor of your mansion kinda blends in with the lower floor, maybe try extending the roof upward by oe more tile.

@SoraNoYosuga I think you need to move the sprite of your character to right, it covers the face graphic really awkwardly. Other than that, the options button looks very awkward without an icon. Without those two complaints the map and the menu looks absolutely lovely.

@Little Adventurer Try laying the shadows of the top floor onto the roof of the bottom floor :) You'll see a huge difference.

Didn't like the dark colored trees along with an already dark colored building. Did this to see which version people would like more.

    EDIT:
Just realized some of the trees on the button were messed up, fixing that real fast.

Finished making the necessary modifications, should look decent now:

    EDIT:
This time something messed with the image capture. Need to figure out what's happening on that end now.

    EDIT 2:
    Finally fixed it.

There could be some dirt instead of grass. People work there everyday, they would trample all that grass.

    Looks much better already, Timmy.

I'm doing my first wooded sections, trying to convey that you're entering an actual woodland. This is my first attempt at this kind of thing so I'm not sure how it's turned out. The woodbark texture is from RPG Maker XP!

Normally I just put some trees together on some grass and call it a woods. This time I've been a bit more thoughtful.

This is a first detailing pass on the area in the bottom right:

    @Amy Pond:

Wow, that will be like a huge load of work, but it looks really cool!

The ground is very well done in the detail pic. I'd make the path in the middle a bit more narrow, showing more of high grass/fallen leaves. Even for a well travelled road, there's a lot of dirt, especially around the trunks of the trees where no one goes.

If the road isn't so well travelled, you could add some unregular patches of the grass/leaves to the edges of the road, making it look more organic, wild and untamed.

@Amy Pond Is it part of your MMO? If it is, you might want to have some sliiightly wider paths. Especially if real-time mobs are in the area!

@TimmyTheNerd You could use some ornaments on the tower :) Like some torches, banners, chains etc. A fuller field could work too!
The one issue I find with the tower itself is the height. Unless you plan on panning the camera to show its full length, it's impossible for the player to appreciate it.

Elder Village. The north gate goes to the Academy. The south gate goes into the forest which eventually leads to the Tower of Trials.

Started updating the project maps. Not going for ultra good quality, but I definetly apply everything I have learned.

Finally able to pull of the "extremely messy" look I was going for. More cozy, realistic, with 100% less atrocious shrunken google images for paintings and fridges.
