@Lycanimuss Very pretty! I really love that you've added touches of purple. It really plays well with the warmth of the light on the torches. One thing is, and I don't know if it's just me, but I think there is something just a tad too opaque about the overlay. Particularly, the light from the torches as it spills over the water might be nice to see a little more diffused.

@Ms Littlefish Thanks you! Now that you said I noticed the opaque about the overlay in the water, I'm going to fix this. Thanks you for the feed!

I keep changing my maps over time, trying to improve them more and more. This one exists for almost a year already, but today I can finally say I like how it's looking:

@Hudell ooh I quite like those new sprites you've got there. The only thing that map is missing, in my opinion, are lanterns.

I posted this as a status update, but I guess I can post here for people who haven't seen it yet =]
I design my maps on paper first, then recreate them in the engine. I'm using Time Fantasy Resources, with some custom tiles.

@GoodSelf This is how I like to start out my maps, too! Makes putting all your ideas into perspective so much easier. The end result is great, too. I can't wait to see what happens on this map. It's very structured, yet the ground tiles aren't too methodic and give it a great organic element.

@Lycanimuss

Graphics look good but what's your resolution? The sprites are nice, but they are look too small in that map. It might not be as awkward if you could go for a smaller resolution since it looks so zoned out.

@Ally Really good looking screenshot. I <3 Pop! Horror and the custom sprites go really well with it. I also like the way you've done text boxes. Frees up a lot of room to look at the action.

@BloodletterQ Thank you! This is not the resolution in game, I zoned out to get the whole map, but in game is better! Thanks you for the feed!

@esby Not bad, but I suppose the only thing I noticed is where is your water coming from. Though, you might not be able to fix that, otherwise, it lookeds like a nice map.

Meanwhile, I am practicing my dungeon mapping skills, because I want my dungeon maps to look better, and such. But I admit I, also, need screenshot lessons, too.

@Caitlin Just a small thing, but it jumps out so strongly - the wall on the left with the lamp on it. On the bottom tile you've put a bit of green to suggest damp/stuff growing up. However, because you've used it on every tile it looks a bit silly. Much better to use it just on one or two - even better, have a couple of variations.
Nice looking cliff tiles - did you do them yourself? I like the screen tint you have chosen, it gives a good sense of the atmosphere of the place.

@Kes Thanks, I'll do that and those cliffs are RTP edits, recolored and given a different ceiling, while making them more like XP style cliffs. I am just finding the square look so boring, while they work in houses, not so much for mines and other such dungeons.

@Ally Nice! It always makes me happy to see POP! stuff used really well :kaopride: Love those custom sprites~

@esby I really like it! As has already been mentioned, the waterfall looks a little odd, but overall I really like the map. Great choice of tiles. A bit nitpicky, but it does slightly bother me that the ladders don't reach the ground.

@Caitlin I agree with Kes, the moss does look a little off, but the map is really nice. The curved cliff corners look great indeed. One thing though, I'd probably make the darker floor tile a little lighter. I think it contrasts a little too much with the lighter ground and blends in too much with the cliff walls. But yeah, looks like a spoopy place I'd love to explore.

Now, I'm not making a fan game, I just thought the tile style I've been working on recently would look cool as a Resident Evil 1 demake kinda thing. I will be using the tiles for other things but I figured throwing in a couple of RE objects and Jill Valentine makes for an easy Fan Art February doo-berry-bob-wotsit :kaoswt2:

@Vexed Already told you, but I just love the be-jebus out of the wallpapers and floors. It amazes me how much texture you can convey in that tile size. The effects are amazing, too.

@Vexed That's incredible! If someone ever did a RE1 demake with those tiles I would probably like it more than the original game.

New update for Battle Castle: Shadow from the Past A Shadow's Echo. No gameplay changes or new content, but lots of things got renamed, including the game title, for extra immersion. Some things related to sound too, like activating chests and taking things.
